Jose Enrique had to come off after just 33 minutes last Saturday and we’ll just have to hope that he is fit for the game at Riverside Stadium next Saturday afternoon.
Jose Enrique - still troubled by hamstring
Chris Hughton was asked if Jose would be fit in time for the important Saturday game:
“I am hoping it is good news,”
“What José did say as he was coming off was he hasn’t pulled it. He thought it was best to come off at that stage.”
“It felt tight and what he didn’t want to do was get to the stage where he possibly might pull it, but we are hoping that’s not too bad.”
Patrick van Aanholt, the specialist left-back Newcastle had on a month’s loan from Chelsea has now returned to the London club, and we would hope that Enrique is OK for the Middlesbrough game.
But if he is in the least bit doubtful Chris will give young Tamas Kadar the left-back spot.
Patrick has to be doing well in training for Chris being willing to put him ahead of Ryan Taylor, and it’s true the more games this lad can get this season the more progress he will make.
“Young Tamas Kadar came on (against Barnsley) and I know he played the majority of the game against 10 men, so perhaps he wasn’t under as much pressure as he would have been, but he did very well,”
As we mentioned yesterday Tamas will be 20 next Sunday, so another Newcastle win, and a clean sheet would be a good way to celebrate that – if he plays on Saturday.
Come to think of it – even if he doesn’t play on Saturday if would still be a good way to celebrate his birthday.
