The Deloitte Touche yearly revenues of the world’s richest football clubs was released last week and the Newcastle club was the world’s 20th richest club.
Derek Llambias – Newcastle 48th richest club now for this season
We may add that in 2008 we were in 13th position and last year were in 17th place so we’ve been on the decline in revenues.
But that was for last season, when we were still in the Premier League, and we will be a lot lower down, and certainly not in the top 20 for this season.
And Derek Llambias has come out to try to clarify the situation.
From the comments on our initial article we saw that some fans thought we were 20th richest even though we are now in the second tier, but the results were for last season, as we tried to emphasize that.
Managing Director Derek LLambias has today clarified the situation and thinks the Tyneside club will be 48th when next year’s figures are released early in the new year.
“Those figures from being the 20th richest club are from 08-90 when we were Premier League,” “The drop from Premier League to Championship is just huge.”
“So our revenue would be more like the 48th figure now. We have a huge wage bill that dominates that figure.”
“What we are doing is that Mike has pumped in £25M in December for running costs and we bought £5.5M players in January and Mike has just paid for that.”
“He is committed and absolutely focused on getting the club back up to the Premier League and wants to make sure it stays there and will continue that.”
“There has not been a penny taken out of the club by Mike. We have had quite a substantial claim by Kevin Keegan that we had to deal with.”
All this talk recently about how important it is for the club to secure promotion back to the Premier League this year seems to be having a positive impact on our players too.
We now have 4 wins on the trot and have to hope we can make that 5 at the Riverside Stadium against Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.
Then we will have Scunthorpe at home the following Wednesday and Bristol City away the following Saturday.

Comment #2What makes him think any Newcastle fan believes one word that comes out of his lying mouth?
Utter contempt for the bloke.
How dare he lecture the fans?
He makes no mention / credit to the fans’ contribution to the club nor the parachute money recieved either. They will ‘massage ‘the figures to suit their own ends.
I distrust him and his equally odious sidekick completely.
