Hughton Already Has Summer Targets Identified

We have been told that Newcastle manager Chris Hughton already has his targets identified for the summer if Newcastle do get promoted.

Chris Hughton – targets already identified

We have been told recently that Mike Ashley will not give Chris the money to buy costly players, but there are some excellent players available who will not cost too much, and after all our history of buying big fee players is hardly good.

One of the good players available is Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara, who is again being touted as a number one target for Newcastle this summer.

Jamie is a good player and can score goals too, and he has Premier League experience, having been on loan at Portsmouth this season, and he would fit nicely into the Newcastle squad.

With just 12 games left to play and the players still taking nothing at all for granted, but approaching each game to win, it’s looking like the lads can indeed secure automatic promotion back to the PL, after just a single season down below.

And Chris Hughton knows all about Jamie O’Hara, because Chris was at Spurs when Jamie was coming through the youth ranks at the London club.

According to the Daily Star today, the 23-year-old O’Hara could move north for around £3M, and that’s within the limits for transfer targets coming into Newcastle in the summer.

Jamie looks to us a good target, and we also believe that Newcastle will look to bring at least two star youngsters into the fold on loan for next season.

And one player in that category seems to be Tom Cleverley, although Newcastle would buy the lad, if the Red Devils made the 20 year-old starlet available.

What do you think about all of this?

Need quality, Not the high waged players he won’t put a shift in and not those who cost an bomb aka Michael Owen

If certain teams get relegation we should try & sign:

    Kamil Zayatte – Hull
    Jamie O’Hara – Pompy
    Kevin Doyle – Wolves

    Also:
    Per Ciljan Skjelbred – Transfer
Carlos Vela – Loan if possible
Jack Wilshere – Loan if possible

Any one agree or got any other ideas?

O’hara would be a bargain at £3m. Havent seen cleverly, so I dont know about him. And there are many good players on the teams that will get relegated, who will want to play for a premier league club 🙂

O’hara is a spurs player, Young_mag. So it doesnt matter if Pompey gets relegated 🙂

Per Ciljan Skjelbred is a good player, but would cost from £4-6m

We will need to add some pace & mobility to central midfield & o’hara seems to fit our buying policy, cleverly also looks a good player. We could get them both on loan. Don’t know enough about skjelbred or the other norwegian lad we get linked with. Depends how much we have to spend but the priority has to be a top class striker but they don’t come cheap.

didnt O’Hara make his move permanent in january robbanufc? and if O’Hara signed who would be in midfield? He’s not better than what we already have, hes a big fish in a small pond at pompey so he looks better than he is. Like the list of players by young_mag except o’hara. especially like the call for Doyle, would like to see shane long too they both are small strikers that would compliment carroll ranger best and shola. Skjelbred should be signed but MA probably wont pay £5M for him

i like skjelbred, and he said in the toon army norway paper, that the only thing missing to make his career perfect, was to play for newcastle. But i guess he is going to be a bit expensive. i also like huseklepp, he has played amazing for both brann and the national team. but he wont be cheap, so i guess he is out of the question. Doyle, wilshere and vela would be great. quality.

If west Brom are not promoted my main summer target would have to be Dorrans. What a cracking player he is; full of ability; full of tricks and a real grafter to!

Kris Boyd from Rangers is available on a free as is Beckford remember!

Joe Ledley is also available on a free transfer from Cardiff; cracking player who has struggled with injuries this year; but is still young and nearly went to stoke for 6 million a little over a year ago!

For me Carlos Vela on a year long loan would be a great signing; especially as Arsenal have Chamakh to come in at the end of the season.

I’ve seen O’hara play regularly and he would not be a bad signing at 3 million if he has reasonable wage demands; however is he any better than Guthrie or Barton?

We currently have Barton, Guthrie, Nolan and Smith vying for a central midfield birth (Butt excluded as we are talking about next season).

Barton won’t be sold as he has a clause in his contract stipulating that we pay him £600,000 if he is sold without asking for a transfer. Plus; i am one of the few who would like to see him back playing to the best of his abilities as he is a proven PL quality player.

I have high hopes for Guthrie playing centrally; Nolan has had a great season and smith is a leader; i cant see any of these three leaving.

that said; O’hara is a creative type of player with a big heart; he can also play wide left and can cover at left back; so for 3 million i would look to bring him in.

For those who remeber my blogs from a season and a half ago i’ve ben saying sign Kevin Doyle. If he is available foe around the 4-5 million mark i’d snap him up.

I know nothing of this Skelbred; although if he is any good i wonder why he has not been snapped up by anyone else yet? Don’t know; just a thought!

Again; i’ve not seen enough of Cleverly but a season long loan would suit both parties.

As far as defenders go; i feel we have cover at right full back in Simpson and Ryan Taylor; as well as S.Taylor who can do more than a decent job there.

I’d look to bring Patrick back on a year long loan from Chelsea or even a permanent deal if we could.

I feel we are one centre back short in our squad; a player who we may pick up for around 4-5 million would be Curtis Davies at villa! Potentially out of our league; but he may sruggle to get in the villa team after injury and the form of Dunne and Collins.

    Ins;

    O hara – 3 million
    Joe Ledley – Free transfer
Dorrans – 4/5 million (if west Brom are relegated)
    Curtis Davies 4/5 million

    One of three;

Doyle – 4/5 million (If wolves are relegated)
    Beckford – free transfer
    Boyd – free transfer

    Loans;

    Van Aanholt
    Vela ( season long)
    Cleverly (season long)

    Outs;

Best ( sadly a championship player at best i feel)
    Butt (contact expiring)
    Pancrate (contract expering)

One of Forster / Krul ( we will not realistically hold on to both of these so i expect us to cash in on one of them)

Perhaps i’m being a little optimistic in our budget for next season! But if we bought 3 or four players for around 10 million and brought a player or two in on free transfers; coupled with a loan or two i feel we will be as strong as we have been for some time.

Well, i think we need a big time goal scorer.
Cover on the left for gutz – Hunt (will be sold) and a right winger to push routelage maybe Dunn on a free. Then we need cover for left back and a player to fight it out with simpson on the right. Also Scharner is a free agent with experience and although Ashley said young I think free agents should be an exception

Barton = SOLD for maybe 4-5 mill
    O’hara for 3 mill

    Butt released
    Scharner for free

Ameobi SOLD for maybe 4 mill
Carlton Cole for 8 mill if relegated

    S Hunt 5 mill
S Ireland 10 mill is a dream but Man City have to sell someone maybe SWP, Krancjar from TOTs
and cover for left and right backs

Well, what about the homegrown talent. not good enough yet?
NUFC have loanees coming back & maybe one of them will fill the bill.
NUFC will need an additional wing or two, someone to step in to do spot kicks if Guthrie is not on the pitch, an additional outside defender.
How much of that talent needs to be purchased ?

listen to some of yous man, saying we should buy this player and that one.
Going by the past transfer windows, we will spend wisely, and probably not that much. As well as this, added to the fact Llambias said only 2 days ago that we will not be spending fortunes on players anymore, what do we find?!?! People on here talking about spending 20 mil on 3 players?? Have a word eh, as the mother used to say, it’ll end in tears…..

    Out:
    Shola (sadly)
    Butt
    Hall
Best (if he continue to play like he has)

    In:

    Patrick Van Aanholt

A right back (Simpson and R. Taylor are not PL class, unfortunately.)

    A creative and speedy midfielder
    for example:
    Jamie O’Hara
Marama Vahirua (may be a bit old…)
    Radoslaw Majewski

    A top class striker

Hre we go again with the wish lists and the off the mark unrealistic values placed on players.
    Forget
    Carlton Cole
    S. Ireland
    Doyle
    Hunt
    Skjelbred
    Boyd
    Too expensive.
Three million seems a low estimate for O`Hara
also Harry has claimed he has a future at Spurs, but with the present level of midfielders at Spurs cant see him getting many games, in which case perhaps we should try for a loan.
I think he can fill that missing link in the midfield, an engine room that can run the side, having watched him and reached the conclusion he can do most things well and gives one hundred percent for ninety minutes.
Dorrans is another I like, getting both would solve a multitude of problems, but cant see Ashley having the foresight to splash that kind of dough.
Icould see both those guys combined withtwo or three loaners from the top sides and hey we are a competative side in the PL, right !

We should pick up some good players for decent value, for now 5 millon is a big signing for a club with little money like us.

Peter Whittingham is a creative player who has proven he can score goals and he would cost in the region of 2 million, he can play left midifield or a central role.

We are in need of a striker and Kris Boyd is a good goal scorer which we could sign for free.

I thought Van Anholt was a top player during his brief spell with us, another loan deal for him would be great as we need cover for Jose Enrique if he gets ijuried.

I think the defense need some cover and Nedum Onuoha could provide that as he can play Right Back or Centre. He is young and the best is to come from him.

Jamie O’hara is a good player but i don’t think we have 6 million prepared for him.

Leon Best should leave and return to the Championship and Nile Ranger should have a season long loan there to get some games under his belt.

Stephen Ireland on a loan deal would be a miracle, he is creative and would do well just behind a striker, a permanent deal would be unrealistic as we don’t have the funds.

Fitz Hall should stay, he is a big defender who intimidates strikers. The defense apart from Enrique should be English so we have some decent communication which could turn into orginization which hopefully could turn into clean sheets.

Coloccini is not a premier league player how he play for Argentina on occasion i don’t know.
The finds for Nedum Onuoha should come from selling him for around 6 million.

Joey Barton staying is a debate, he may be a trouble maker but is a good player, if we get behind him he will perform. Joey should stay and redeem himself.
