24 year-old Steven Taylor picked up a serious injury against West Brom in January, and the news was that he would be out for the season, and it turns out that’s exactly what he thought.
Steven Taylor – thought he was out for the season
Steven Taylor however was just delighted to win the Sports Personality of the Year award Monday night, which he was surprised to win.
Steven talked today about winning the award:
“It’s massive for me to win this award,”
“Just looking at the names on the trophy – Alan Shearer, JonnyWilkinson, Jonathan Edwards – to be in that category is a very proud thing.”
“The icing on the cake would be a Championship winner’s medal and to get back into the Premier League. That would be the perfect season.”
“I wrote myself off for the rest of the season when I did my injury. But I’ve had strength coaching from Michael Pellegrino every afternoon and it’s given me the confidence to come back.”
“I’ll hopefully be playing by the back end of the season. I feel really good at the moment, the work’s definitely paying off.”
Both Joey Barton and Steven, two of our most experienced Premier League players have been out a while now through injury, so it makes our squad seem even stronger, when the lads are continuing to perform so well on the pitch.
Of course we’ll still need at least four new players in the summer and it’s going to be very interesting to see who those payers are.
