Jose Enrique and Wayne Routledge will return to full training this morning at the Benton training grounds.
Alan Smith – will not train today – doubtful for Saturday
But Alan Smith will again be doubtful for Saturday’s game because he’ll need a little bit longer to shake off his ankle knock which kept him out of the game against Barnsley on Saturday.
Routledge has been out with a calf problem since last month, and of course Jose Enrique lasted just 33 minutes ion Saturday before his hamstring played up again.
Chris spoke today to Newcastle United TV on the injury situation at the club:
“I’ve got a few decisions to make with regards fitness,”
“Jose and Wayne will train today. Jose’s injury itself is fine and it’s up to myself to make a judgement call on that one.”
“Wayne is a naturally fit lad and shouldn’t take too long to get back up to full speed.”
“Alan Smith won’t train today but we’ll see how he is on Friday and take it from there.”
19 year-old Tamas Kadar is on call to start at left back if Jose doesn’t make if at Middlesbrough, and we would expect Danny Guthrie to continue in central midfield if Alan doesn’t make the game Saturday.
Danny gave an outstanding performance against Barnsley last Saturday, and also got two second half goals.
