Newcastle Pursue Top Belgium Star

Newcastle United seem to be keeping tabs on a number of top youngsters right now, and the latest one peeking the interest of the Tyneside club seems to be Lille’s 19-year-old emerging star, Eden Hazard.

Eden Hazard – Lille’s top 19 year-old  Belgium midfielder

Newcastle’s new chief scout, Graham Carr seems to be very busy these day.

And it seems that Graham has taken over the essential duties of former Director of Football, Dennis Wise, but Graham  reports to manager Newcastle manager Chris Hughton, so the  manger has complete control of all player personnel.

That’s as it should be, but as we now know – that was unfortunately not the case when the great Kevin Keegan was managing the club for a second  time,  only 18 months ago.

Hazard, who plays in both central midfield and out on the wing, stands 5’7″ tall and was born in La Louvière, Belgium, has already played over 60 times for Lille and scored 8 goals.

This top youngster, at just 19 years old, has represented his country Belgium 11 times already at the senior level.

This lad is obviously some player, and undoubtedly one of of Europe’s top young budding stars.

However, it may be difficult for Newcastle to attract this top player to Tyneside, not because he doesn’t want to play in England, but the lad has already talked about a  desire to play at Arsenal – and he’s not even French!

That doesn’t sound too good, does it?

Yes, we know he speaks French, but only because we are big fans of Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot. 😀

Anyway, with a player as good as Eden undoubtedly is, at just 19 years old, several top European clubs are already after him, including Liverpool, AC Milan and Juventus, to name just three.

But this is exactly the type of top player Newcastle United need for next season, and with things seemingly going well internally at the club, let’s hope the famous Newcastle club can attract this great up-and-coming youngster to Tyneside.

Howay the Lads!!

Comments always welcome.

I would be soooooo incredibly happy if we managed to sign this bloke, have seen him play a few times and he is top quality, he is also world class on fifa and FM 2010! 😀

Very unlikely we could get, but worth a shout! More realistic winger I would say is Andrew Driver of Hearts, he is also serious quality!

Not a hope of us getting him. Specially after his performance in Madrid upped his status.

It would sure be the best thing if we get him. But, the money is the question. He is world class. Dubbed the next Cristiano Ronaldo. Awesome video.

Graham Carr looks like he is on the right track, but lets see if Chris Hughton and Mike Ashley are.

Why not go for Messi as well…he looks good.

What a ridiculous rumour, hes one of europes hottest property.

If we are looking at him then its very good because going for young players doesn’t mean snappin up 17 year olds for a few 100k compensation.

Eden Hazard is being tracked by everyone up and down Europe and he is not a hidden gem.

Woodsie- it was Pjanic who scored against Real, he plays for Lyon. Hazard scored the other night against Liverpool in the Europa league.

Pity Carr didn’t spot him before his performance was plastered on tellys the length and breadth of Europe and beyond. We all saw that. Maybe we should all be scouts.
Our one advantage over Arsenal and anyone else should be that we can offer first team football on a regular basis – the fact we aren’t a side encrusted with gems can be boon. For this reason, its important not to start just building up the squad with mediocrity just because its cheap or on loan.

And would fans forgive and forget if Zog became available again if Wigan get the chop in May?
    I would.

SAV Of course we, except joe kinnear will forgive him. He i s becoming better day by day. If Wigan fall than get Hugo Rodallega and Victor Moses with him.

This guy is awesome, he scored against Liverpool recently so we know he can score against Prem opposition. He’s got loads of potential, but doubt that we’ll get him.

This is the type of player we MUST get for NUFC. Move for him quickly too because we all know the big moneybag clubs will have noticed him as well. Yes, we do need young players of this calibre. But we also need to bring in some experienced quality middle aged (!) players around 24-27 years old if we are to mount a reasonable challenge back in the Premiership.

This would of course be wonderful. But I’m afraid we can forget about this. I’m all for getting in hot prospects but we will need to dig deeper than the worlds most promising players that every single Champions league club are keeping tabs on. Hazard will never be sold for less then 10 mills as he has a contract until 2014 and will until then only become a more sought after player. But hey, still managed to wake me up on this dreadful Monday morning.

I don’t think he will come to NUFC if it is a matter of money. His agent will advise him to find a team where he will get both playing time, stable coaching and more wins than losses. If that all works out, then the sky is the limit on the money he can earn as a well coached, field tested and winning attitude striker.

I kow most of you don’t like the idea of bringing on Americans, but Charlie Davis is recovering from a car accident and might be a good investment that could be done under cover of everyone else looking the other way. He scored against Spain or Brazil last summer in S. Africa, showing pace and power. NUFC has a shortage of players with scoring records against Spain & Brazil, which is a glaring error I’d like seeing corrected.

Ha looks to good for Newcastle. Will go to one of the big clubs in Spain or Italy for £30-£40M. I don’t think even Arsenal have a chance in getting him, they don’t spend enough money.

Routledge will be good enough for the premier league at a fraction of the cost.

Can someone tell me the point of having a youth policy when we have an old fashioned manager who only fields senior, experienced players?

BeeGuy, I am right there with you…then again, based on my Sing-in name, you can probably tell I am a yank. I’d say Davis or Altidore even. Both are exceptionally good players.

He reportedly has a 60 million euro buyout clause in his contract. Real Madrid were sniffing about last season. Not happening.
