Joey Barton has declared he is fit and ready to return to the Newcastle United first team squad for the game at Bristol City on Saturday.
Joey Barton – fit again?
But somehow we still think Chris Hughton will use the Liverpudlian sparingly during the last 11 games of the season.
Here’s what Chris said today when asked if Joey would be playing:
“Do I see him playing for us next season? Yes,” “Joey is a player who is contracted to this club, I think he’s got another couple of years left.”
“I’ve no doubt that if Joey had been fit this season, he would certainly have played a bigger part than what he has done. I see nothing different to that in the future.”
Do you get the impression with those words, that Joey will be played very sparingly for the remainder of the season?
It seems that way to us.
But if Joey starts to show his best form in training, there’s just no way Chris will not play him more and more in the first team as the season, hopefully a promotion season, comes to a successful end.
After all, at the top of his game, Joey Barton is a good player.
