Nile Ranger Grateful For Any Chance He Gets At Newcastle

1:18 pm, Saturday, March 20th, 2010 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 20 Comments

Nile Ranger, who turns 19 on 11th April, is keen to press further for a first team position at Newcastle United, and he knows when he gets a chance he has to score goals.

Nile Ranger – striker of the future at Newcastle

We haven’t heard too much from Nile recently, and since Leon Best was signed in January, Nile went down the pecking order at the club, but just a little bit.

The Londoner has today talked to the Evening Chronicle about scoring goals:

“I haven’t been getting on much, because all the strikers are fit.” “But when I do get a game, I’ve got to put the ball in the net.”

“Hopefully that can start again at Bristol tonight.” “I’d be grateful for any chance that I get.”

“As a striker you always want to get on in a game like that, and try to snatch a goal.”

The Chronicle is saying today that Nile has already turned 19, but we think not, and he doesn’t turn 19 until April 11th. That’s his birthday on the official site and in other information we have checked out.

Nile has played 12 times for the England U19 side and scored 6 goals, and has already made 30 appearances for Newcastle United, with 7 starts and 2 goals. Not bad for one so young.

And maybe that will be 3 goals after the game at Bristol City today.

Nile has a huge future at Newcastle, and he’ll just have to be a little bit patient, but we also suspect that a striker will be sold this summer, and the favorite has to be Shola Ameobi, but we’ll have to wait and see on that one.

Comments welcome.

Think he is a great prospect but if he gets a chances in the 1st team again he will have to score more to stay there , simple as that really

  • 2 boater // Mar 20, 2010 at 2:02 PM

Johno Toon damned tightt. He needs to grab his 20 mins by the kneck, score goals and demand a starting place. Otherwise nxt season he will be sent out on loan to a championship squad and the downward spiral starts there,, just ask Paul Robinson, Coppinger, Chopra, barni Gudjonsson, Dalgliesh jnr, etc. all prospects we were raving about at one time.

‘Not bad for one so young.’

Not great either, Rooney was valued at over £25m by the time he was 19 and was already scoring goals for the full England squad…. Johno and boater have it spot on here, he needs to step up the plate sharpish at this fizzy level or he will be no good in the Prem.

I wouldn’t say he’ll get sold, a bit drastic. I think going on loan would be good, even if he starts banging them in now he won’t start in the EPL to my mind.
Either way, I think we need 2 new strikers in the summer. I believe Carroll can cut it, McLoven is good enough but Shola and Best aren’t personally.

Hughtons signings have been hit and miss,

    Routledge- great
    Hall- good
    Van Alnholt-good but neglected Kadar
    Williamson- great
    Simpson- okay
    Best- Poor

  • 10 DevonMag // Mar 20, 2010 at 3:35 PM

so then DJG out of 6 signings there we have: great, good, good, great, okay and poor.

Hardly hit and miss is it?

  • 11 cupiddstunt // Mar 20, 2010 at 3:50 PM

    Well going of your assessments
    Great,
    Good,
    Good,
    Great,
    Ok
And poor although not seen enough of him to make any assessment

they look a little bit more hit than miss don’t you think????

  • 12 DJG // Mar 20, 2010 at 3:58 PM

Out of the perminant signings we have

    Routledge- Great,
    Williamson- Great,
Simpson- Okay (Not good for prem)
Best- Poor (Not good for this league)

Yes I would call that hit and miss.

Hughton’s buys and loans throughout the season have been pretty smart for this division apart from Kizanishvilli. Obviously buying and loaning players for the prem on a budget is gonna prove more dificult, especially when it comes to finding a regular goalscorer. Even the mackems have struggled this season and they have Bent in their team scoring regularly. I feel we still need players to start or cover the following positions: RB, LB, CB, DM, AM, CF.

  • 14 DJG // Mar 20, 2010 at 4:08 PM

    Shot Bru

I think we will be okay considering the much more positive team spirit now ect. But for sure we do need to sign a premier league RB (Simpson fine for cover) and a proper premier league striker (those that don’t come cheap).
If we can do that there should be enough in the rest of the squad to at least compete.

WBA is a very good game. Preston were down 2-0 but not 3-2 still loosing just under 60 min.

  • 16 baro // Mar 20, 2010 at 4:46 PM

NUFC: Steve Harper, Danny Simpson, Fabricio Coloccini, Fitz Hall, Jose Enrique, Wayne Routledge, Danny Guthrie, Kevin Nolan (c), Jonas Gutierrez, Leon Best, Andy Carroll

Subs: Tim Krul, Ryan Taylor, Nicky Butt, Nile Ranger, Tamas Kadar, Fabrice Pancrate, Ryan Donaldson

    No Lovenkrands. Looks

  • 17 baro // Mar 20, 2010 at 4:47 PM

I think this game will be another blow out.

  • 18 Spuggy // Mar 20, 2010 at 4:48 PM

Anyone think its worth punt for Santa cruz, Micah Richards, and michael johnson if promoted??

Two are persistent benchwarmers (SC and MR) and one (MJ) is injured for the season but may be cheap next if fit.

I would keep my eyes on second tier Man city player and plunder them as they are likely to go mad again in the summer window, esp if they don’t make 4th place. I know they’d cost a bit but these are exactly the positions we need so would enhance the team massively.

  • 19 baro // Mar 20, 2010 at 4:57 PM

Micah Richards, and michael johnson hell yes. But is Santa Cruz that good ever since he left B’burn.

  • 20 Rotonda heights // Mar 20, 2010 at 5:01 PM

baro Richards and Johnson good players but seriously up themselves.
