West Brom and Nottingham Forest Both Win

There was no joy today for Newcastle from the two clubs in second and third place in the Championship table, as both WBA and Nottingham Forest secured home wins.

West Brom came through 3-2 at home against a decent Preston side, with all goals coming in the first half.

Goals  from Ben Watson (7 mins), Chris Brunt (9 mins) and Graham Dorrans (33 mins) saw WBA to a good 3 points. Sean St. Ledger (15 mins) and Neil Mellor (43)  scored for Preston.

And Nottingham Forest won 1-0 at home against Peterborough United  through a 13th minute goal from Robert Earnshaw.

In other results this afternoon, 4th placed Swansea could only draw 1-1 at QPR and  Middlebrough picked up a point at the Riverside by drawing 1-1 with Reading.

WBA are now on 75 points, just one behind Newcastle, who play at Bristol City this afternoon in the late game.

Nottingham Forest are on 67 points, but Newcastle have two games in hand on both teams.

That has got to be the worst free kick I have seen, and despite that they scored from it, FGS, great start, poor keeping from Harper

Insipid, disgusting, pathetic, and simply not good enough.

They think they are too good for their boots this game, a lot of show boating with nothing resulting.

They need a massive kick up the arse, absolutely gutless performance by all of them.

Jonas special mention for being the weakest piece of crap I have ever seen take the field. Wake up, stop complaining and do something constructive.

Leon Best may as well not play, worthless sod, poor Andy has to beat 4 men on his own cause you won’t do shit to help.

Steve Harper, that goal resulted because of that piss poor attitude of not waking up and thinking it was going to be easy. From your very first touch I could see your attitude being far too complacent.

Andy Carroll keep your head held high, your the only one worth wearing the strip today. The rest of you, absolutely pathetic. The year is not over boys and playing like you think you have won the league is not gonna get you there.

Bristol City have to be the one of the worst form teams in the comp, instead of coming out wanting to win, you guys think you are all stars.

Serves yo bloody right. Pissed off. Wake up.

aussietoon, talk about overreacting. bristol came out with a point to prove and they pushed for their goals today, harper has been fantastic for us as has jonas. lay off and show the lads your with them rather than spouting off how worthless they are otherwise whats the point in supporting them?

    hugh jorgan,
Cop on will ya! if you watched the game you can see he covers so much ground and works really hard. hughton sees it as does trappatoni with the irish team.
i know he shouldnt of lasted 90mins but he nearly grabbed a winner!! now get on board and support the whole team man!!

We had somewhere near 60% of the play, Bristol City were somewhat fortunate to draw the game.

Yes, Leon Best did run around and about the pitch, but to no effect.
My support of Newcastle United cannot be questioned, but if a player performs like a donkey, why should he not be criticised ?

I think aussietoon may have been a little grouchy because he had to get up at 4 in the morning to watch that first half! Get a grip man, glad to see Jonas play his heart out in the second half today to make aussie eat his words!!
