Newcastle After Spanish Winger And Uruguayan Striker

Neil Farrington in the Sunday Sun is reporting this morning that Newcastle United are after two star players, who are currently playing in the Spanish  La Liga.

Juan Albin – 23 year-old Getafe striker

Valencia right winger Pablo Hernandez is said to be interesting Newcastle, and the 24 year-old Castellón, Spain born player is pushing for a Spanish World Cup place.

The other player Newcastle are sad to be interested in is Getafe’s Uruguayan striker Juan Albin, and the 23 year-old has played 97 times for Getafe with 17 goals.

The Salto, Uruguay born player stands just under 5’11” and played for Nacional in Uruguay, before moving to Getafe in 2006 where he has so far played 64 times with 24 goals.

However it’s interesting that Juan has still to play for Uruguay.

Hernandez has so far played only a couple of times for Spain, and has played 42 times for Valanica with 9 goals.

Pablo Hernandez

Hernandez was at Valencia from 2004 until 2007, before moving to Gatafe for one season, before returning to Valancia in 2008.

While at Getafe he played 38 times with 7 goals.

The interesting thing about Albin, is that he will be out of contract this summer, and would be available on a free transfer, but Hernandez has only recently signed a new deal at Valencia until 2014, and would cost real money.

So between the two of them, we have to think that Albin would be more of a real target for Newcastle this summer.

But it looks like new scout Graham Carr is already very active scouting players that Newcastle can move for this summer.

Comments welcome.

Fine ifthey’re cheap/free, but as we all know, players from Spain and Central/South America tend to take a season to get used to English football. We need players who can make an impact next season and therefore help keep us up – IF we are promoted.

For the first team next sesason, we will need a RB, AM and maybe a ST if we can get a really good one. If not, stick with the ST’s we’ve got, with Nile as a preference to Leon. Andy and Peter are first choice obviously.

In terms of youngsters, we will need to find very promising: LB, RW, LW, DM and ST. These players may get a few sub appearences next season but will not break through until the subsequent season. They will be like Bassongs or Rangers; get them before others reasile their potential and therefore get tehm on the cheap.

    Outs in the summer:

    Butt
    Pancrate

    Bought in the summer, new:

    RB
    AM
    ST (Maybe)

    LB (youngster)
    DM (youngster)
    RW (youngster)
    LW (youngster)
    ST (youngster)

That is realistic, yet slightly optimistic in the circumstances. If the 2 or 3 players we need cost say 9-10 millions in total, then CH should have some cash to play with in terms of youngster, hopefully.

We have a good base to build on, but – even if we could – I wouldnt want to buy 7 or 8 new players in the summer, as it would disrupt the team spirit we have developed this season.

If we stay up next season, give CH a 5 year deal and allow more sensible stability to help push us back up the league.

Agree with Anger, no point bringing in another Xisco in the summer, might work, might not, not worth the chance in my eyes, go for proven PL players, can’t fail.

Juan Albin was highly thought of here at Nacional, however, the move to Europe was mainly based on the back of strong performances of many Uruguyans playing in some of the top clubs, namely Forlan and Suarez. These are two of the reasons he is no where near the national team. Having seen him play, nothing better than we have at present. Peter on a free from Gemany is a wiser and seasoned version of him for English football.

Promotion permitting, our strengthening needs to have premiership experience or championship at least. Liam Ridgewell and Sebastian Larson from Brum, both out of contract would be good starts, plus two from pompet, ohara and vanden borre, very highly rated belgium who has slightly lost his way

vanden borre was excellent for anderlecht, i think last night we won the league, that spirit will carry us forward to now win every game at home and some away, i think tuesday is a dangerous game though.

Sounds like there’s either a leak at NUFC or Mr Farrington has an active imagination and a deadline to meet.

Not many of our transfer targets were leaked last window so that leaves …

It would be brilliant if we get both of them, Pablo Hernandez and Juan ALbin, they are terrific players, and would help our squad a lot.

montevideomag, i wouldn’t mind another lovenkrands type player. Peter is 30 and this guy has time to be moulded in to that role.

I agree with geoff777 – summer transfer window 2008/09 we were linked with a whole host of players, but none of them included Jonas, our first signing of course.

Hernandez is a great player, but so was Riera and Luque in Spain.

Not too sure how much of a look in he gets at Valencia as Silva, Mata and Villa rulse that side at the moment.

We treid to get Jonas on a free from Spain and its good we are looking at these sorts of players…shows that there is actually cash.

Is it just me, or does Hernandez look like Marty Feldman?
Let him take the pens, the goalies won’t have a clue.

Hernandez is a very good player. by what i’ve seen of him, he’s sure to be a Spain regular in the future.

if he’s showing interest in us, we should definitely get him even if it costs us a lot because we need player like him when we’re back in the premier league.

Is it me or does Pablo Hernandez in that pix look a bit like Torres???

Anyway, lets hope if we do buy them, that we don’t have to do another Xisco & let him go out on loan, we need players who can fit into the squad & be ready to play, not someone who we have to nurse for the first 6 month, a bit like we did with Jonas, Colo, Enrique, Xisco etc etc!!!

These sort of players should have been brought into the squad this season, so they could get use to English footy before we get promoted back to the PL, as they wont have the luxury of taking their time on the ball against PL players!!
