Newcastle Scouting Squad Now In Full Swing

We’re not promoted yet, and in fact we lost two point to both WBA and Nottingham Forest, who both had home wins yesterday afternoon.

Yohan Cabaye – could be real target for Newcastle

The scouting squad, now headed by the newly appointed chief scout Graham Carr, seems to already be in full swing, for the summer transfer window.

There is news today in the Sunday Sun, that chief scout Graham Carr is looking at several targets in France, including Lille’s Yohan Cabaye, who we reported on yesterday.

We also mentioned that Lille also have 19 year-old Eden Hazard, a young emerging Belgium star, who Newcastle may also be after, but we see today that Lille want £20M for him – exit Newcastle United.

There are also reports Newcastle are after Lens’ Adama Diakite, and also concentrating in Germany for promising youngsters.

Diakite turned 19 on 7th March, and still has to make his first team debut for his club Lens, and the France Under-18 international can play as a striker or behind the front two strikers.

This lad may be a real target, because Newcastle could pick him up for reasonable money now, before he gets better, and of course the price goes up. Timing is everything in bringing in young talent.

But news today that Newcastle have missed out to Manchester United for Irish teenage goalkeeping starlet Joe Coll, who is 16 years old.

The youngster was spotted by Newcastle playing for Donegal League side Glenea United, but he was also being scouted by several top PL clubs.

We expect there to be more scouting stories coming out over the next several weeks, but we are still not yet certain of promotion, so we’ll not over-do it, at the moment.

But if we do get promoted then this summer promises to be a very exciting time for Newcastle fans the world over, during the transfer window.

Yeah, hope there`s some truth to the matter, that in fact we ARE looking at bringing in some talent, as this weekend was a reality check on exactly how good we are.
I advocated a policy of scouring the leagues both in the UK and on the continent, immediately following the winter window.
Actually we should have gone for better quality players right then if we have pretensions of being competitive in the PL.
Others said lets first see if we are going up, which means we will have to bed in a larger amount of players durlng the summer.
And if we are going into the continental leagues, we are all aware of the amount of time it takes to adapt to the English game.
Well I`m not as concerned about that as, ending up with cheap youngsters who have still to develop, as we need all the help we can get going into the PL .
Plus experience is an essential part of any team,
just look who Arsenal brought back to stabilize the defence, yeah Campbell.

In that photo it looks like he’s either really camp, or his wrist is deformed.
