Newcastle Unlikely To Comment On Growing Speculation

Once again Newcastle United are making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Newcastle owner Ashley – will be furious at these recent events

There are now a myriad of reports out which suggest Steven Taylor is recovering in hospital from an altercation with Andy Carroll on Sunday.

And Andy Carroll has at best a murky past in terms of displaying violence, and we had been hoping, for his own sake, that those things were in the past – but we guess not.

Most Newcastle fans are now wanting to know exactly what happened, and we understand Newcastle owner Mike Ashley and Derek Llambias are conducting an internal investigation, and will take no action until they have all the facts in front of them.

They will rightly be alarmed and very disappointed that this has happened at such a vital time of the season, with what seems to be a self-inflicted wound to the Newcastle club’s promotion chances.

We do not expect any announcement before the game tonight, because we think that’s the best course of action to aid the team in playing well tonight against Doncaster Rovers.

Newcastle will want to limit the bad publicity as much as possible before the game, in the hopes the club can still secure a good win.

If Newcastle can indeed collect all 3 points tonight, it would help alleviate the pressure on the club, and promotion would still look likely.

But look for something to be announced tomorrow from the club, with presumably some kind of punishment being meted out to Newcastle top scorer Andy Carroll and center-back Steven Taylor, depending on the results of  the internal investigation.

It’s also distressing that both players are local lads raised in the Newcastle area.

Carroll is top scorer for Newcastle this season with 15 goals so far.

Newcastle are currently 2 points clear of WBA and 10 points clear of 3rd placed Nottingham Forest, with a game in hand on both teams, so the Tyneside club are still very well positioned to gain automatic promotion unless some calamity occurs.

Comments welcome.

We do not know the facts and who is to be blamed fotr the latest embarassing event at the training ground, but judging from previous records and behaviour it will be very suprising if the fault lies with Taylor.
Carrol if it is proven that he is to be blamed he should be shown the front door, he might be a great prospect but he has a lot to prove on a higher level, while Taylor has proved that he is a player of high ability and at the same time a Gentleman!
Ashley Houghton and Lambias take the right decision this time and get the maximum you can get financially for him at the next window, meanwhile send him away from the rest of the players as he can only create a derision and unrest in a group of players that by their own admission are united as a squad
I hope that he will not be considered tonight, a chance for Ranger? and if he is selected the fans can make him know that if proven guilty there is no place for him in the Club

Just when we didn’t need any negativity, right at the business end of the season.

I’ve no respect for Carroll, the way he was on the final day of the season in our local pub was disgraceful. Relegation is good for him apparently, more appearances, more goals, more money.

Can’t see this being Stevens fault but will stand corrected if it is. Just seems that no bad press in 5 years against 2 reports of alleged violence tips the scales to Carroll being at fault. Yes, I’m biased but with good reason.

So go on Gar, what was Bigman Andy upto in your local ???

Stevey T is meant to be a wind up merchant, but if some Ex of bigman is texting him…he should have kept it to himself & not wound bigaman up.

What must bigmans bird think of it all, I imagine he is in the doghouse with her too.

If they cant work it out after years of work & friendship together, they are a pair of prize pricks.

Hope they are both fined if both to blame, didnt think we would see Stevey T this season anyway…so no loss (I hope) Just need bigman to keep his head down and let his boots & his head do the taling, and not just his fists.

Come on the Toon, lets have a few goals tonight….

And lets get Peace to come to SJP

Sir Bobby would not be happy watching this from the heavens

Concur gar1969, if reports are to be believed. However just because Taylor came off worse doesnt mean that it was Carrolls fault, but with his past it doesn’t look good.
Newcastle can’t really do anything, as they failed to set the bench mark for Barton. If Carroll is at fault we should cash in and make him someone elses problem. Its harsh but we should no longer be a deliqunet re-hab centre and it sends out the message The Club doesnt need your sort. However that will be hard to do due to Barton being there. At least this time it isn’t an Ashley blunder, and we’re not near the bottom. I’m hoping it will cause the close ranks reaction on the pitch and a solid win tonight. Here’s hoping…

Really bad news this! Taylor is a player i have huge respect for as a newcastle united fan; for me he epitomises the spirit of our club and could have swanned off to pretty much any club in the premier league had he wanted to in the summer!

I don’t know the facts; but reputations are normally built on strong foundations! We must instill a strong discipline at our club. If Carroll is out of line then he must be dealt with harshly!

Perhaps the worst part of all of this is the fact that Leon Best may be our only fit and available front man this evening! Potentially the worst striker i have ever seen adorn the black and white jersey; he makes luque, xisco, guivarch, Andersson, cordone, paul robinson and indeed paul dalglish look like world beaters! I’m not sure if it is complete lack of movement or a complete lack of confidence; but please Besty; prove me wrong; bang in 4 or 5 goals from now until the end of the season; show me more than one decent header in 10 games; show me you deserve to be here!

Fingers crossed that ranger will get a chance tonight!

Zubr there seems that you encourage Carrol to behave in such manner, well, I hope you are in the minority otherwise we are doomed to be the Circus of the football league regardless in what division we are playing in

carroll has got to go, unacceptable behaviour and its not an isolated incident. sell him in the summer and buy someone who isn’t going spend the rest of his career dragging newcastle’s name through the mud.

No one reliable has actually said what’s happened yet, so lets not get too judgemental.

I wouldn’t be shocked to learn it was as thought but it may not be…then again, this is Newcastle.

And it’s a welcome back to our old friends from the Daily mail! Hiya guys -long time no see!
You can just imagine the phone ringing in their little cockney office – the specialist geordie bashing reporter who was about to be laid off answers, listens, then a broad grin of delight and relief spreads across his mug – saved! The NUFC drama machine springs back to life! Cheers Andy – why don’t you throw away a career AFTER promotion and AFTER we sell you in the summer for a ridiculous amount of some Manc – based – Arab’s money!
Smacking someone in the face when you’re already on bail is pretty dumb – we now have Preston, Nzobia, Bigg market and Steven Taylor – a bit of a history for one so young or what?

A comment made by Graham Courtney during the Keegan fiasco……. “You couldn’t make it up”

Seems apt and what a shame this, whatever it is, has happened.

Carroll and Taylor need to make a public display of kissimg and making up to put the lid on this – the press are loving it….. as ever.

The only kisses Carroll seems to give out these days are Glasgow kisses!!!!!!

Im raging, we just seem to be moving in the right direction for the first time in a long time and now this happens.

I bet we now get humped by Doncaster tonight cause of this shit.

I stand by my comment about his hair, hes from Gateshead not Buenos Aires!!!!!

If Carroll has broken Taylor’s jaw and is out for the season, he should be made to pay Taylor’s wages until he’s fit again. Gotta hand it to Carroll seems like he packs a punch 😉

Plenty cam-toon, but that doesn’t make it right. If I did I would be sacked on the spot.

I agree we dont know what has happened yet, but if what has been reported so far is true then i’m sorry but Carroll should be sold.

This is the straw that broke the camels back, hes had plenty of chances in the past and pissed them away in the wind.

How do you think Taylor will feel sharing a dressing room with someone who broke his jaw. If it was me I would refuse point blank. What happens next time Taylor accidentally mistimes a tackle in training. Will it be okay for Carroll to give him a right kicking???

There is no two ways about it, if this is true then it will have a negative affect on team morale and someone should be held accountable for that.

Don’t forget that it takes “two to tango”. I don’t care who started this embarresment, but apologies should be coming from both players. I realize they are young, but if this team is so solid in the locker room, idiotic stuff like this should not happen-EVER!
I hope cooler heads prevail and the rest of the team gets on with it. As to the consequences for this incident, it’s now time to see if management has the b%*s to punish both players.

There are many people who seem to feel, (right or wrong-we don’t know) that Carroll may have sucker punched Taylor. If this is the case, then he deserves all he gets-from the club and the police. Will we ever know? – Doubt it.
