West Brom Held 1-1 By Reading

As half expected this afternoon, Reading held West Bromwich Albion to a 1-1 draw at the Madejski Stadium.

And it was only a late goal on 86 minutes by Gabriel Sebastian Tamas that gave WBA the point, after the Midlands side had trailed Reading for most of the game. Reading has scored their goal after only 6 minutes, through Gylfi Sigurdsson.

WBA had an opportunity this afternoon to take over top place in the Championship with a win, but the point leaves them on 79 points after 40 games, one point behind Newcastle United, who now have two games in hand.

The draw at Reading breaks a winning streak of 5 successive games by WBA.

In other Championship games this afternoon, Middlesbrough could only draw 1-1 at Watford and Cardiff City beat Crystal Palace 2-1 away to take 4th place with 62 points from 39 games.

A win by Newcastle on Monday night against 3rd placed Nottingham Forest can at St. James’ Park now see the Magpies move 4 points ahead of WBA and 13 points ahead of Forest, with a game in hand and a better goal difference on both the chasing teams.

The top two finishers in the Championship get automatic promotion, and the following four teams go into the playoffs for the 3rd promotion place.

well played reading-a bit gutting when west brom scored but theyve dropped points so im happy =]
a point to add to this-does anyone think that Gylfi Sigurdsson would be a quality signing in the summer? he is only 20 and i think that goal today was his 13th of the season from midfield.

I think Gylfi Sigurðsson, my fellow Icelander, could be someone worthwhile for NUFC to take a look at. He’s a 20 years old central midfielder who has scored 15 goals and made 9 assists in 31 starts this season. Not a bad record for a 20 year old at all. And he can score from everywhere as well as having amazing passing skills.

Hope we play like the Cup final against Forest because no doubt, it’s the biggest game for us this season. Now WBA miss their chance to put pressure to us. If we can win Forest, it can 99% guarantee our promotion.

Show them who’s the boss in CCC this season !! Howay the lads !

P.S. Hope we will see full house or at least 50000+ attendance on Monday. Don’t miss it. It will be one of the memory day.The day we come back to PRM again !

It’s Patrick Nzuzi (defender) and Andy Mogwo (midfielder).
Nzuzi is regular at right back in our U18

Reading have got their act together in later part of the season, now a tought nut to crack espicially at home. Reading are our game in hand, and would have prefered to play them earlier than it looks like we are now

Shame they sneaked a point. I thought West Brom were due a loss like.

Three points on Mon will mean Forest are virtually consigned to playoffs and West Brom 4 points behind with 1 less game and worse goal difference, it’s ours to lose!

The next 4 games 3 are at home and important to keep winning because 3 of last 4 are away. I hope we can secure title on penultimate game at home to ipswich.

    nimo and GvFalkirk –

i have played with both Patrick Nzuzi and Andy Mogwo at the academy, both are great players esp Nzuzi – very quick and exremely versitile. Connor Newton is also a great player in the under 18s
