Newcastle United are now the only team in the country unbeaten at home this season.
This could be Gutierrez – after scoring tonight
Newcastle have 8 games left in what has so far been a terrific season for Newcastle fans, and four of those games are at St. James’ Park, including tonight’s game against Nottingham Forest.
Jonas Gutierrez, who has had a great season on Tyneside, is one Newcastle player who wants to keep that record intact until the season ends, as he told the Evening Chronicle today:
“We’ve had a couple of games away from St James’ Park and we’ll be looking forward to playing there again.”
“We have made it tough for teams at home this season and we’d be very proud to get through the whole year unbeaten.”
“There are only a few games left now at home, and everybody has known for a long time that Nottingham Forest is the big game.”
And with the Newcastle United supporters there in full force tonight, where a sell-out 52,000 crowd is expected, Gutierrez is looking to score another goal for the faithful supporters.
Jonas scored against Barnsley in the 6-1 win at home, and the Geordie fans finally got to see the man in the Spiderman mask.
Jonas also scored an opportunist goal in the game at Bristol City, when the lads came back fighting from being 2-0 down at half time.
Jonas, who is a huge favorite on Tyneside, continued:
“It was a great moment when I finally pulled on the mask.”“I have wanted to add goals to my game but making sure I help the team win games is the first priority.”
“If goals also come along then great. But it is a great feeling to score for Newcastle in front of those fans and I want to do it more often.”
Jonas didn’t put on the mask when he last scored at Bristol City, because we were still 2-1 down with just 20 minutes to go, but he could well wear it tonight if he scored his third goal of the season.
For instance if his goal puts Newcastle 5-0 up, we can assure you that Jonas will wear the mask. 😀
Wouldn’t that be something.
Howay The Lads!!
