Danny Guthrie has said today that he hopes the Newcastle players are celebrating promotion after tomorrow afternoon’s game against Peterborough United at London Road.
Danny Guthrie – wants promotion to be certain by tomorrow
Newcastle are very close to promotion, being a full 13 points ahead of 3rd placed Nottingham Forest, with a game in hand and a much superior goal difference.
Even a Newcastle win and a Forest draw tonmorrow will effectively give Newcastle promotion too.
22 year-old midfielder Danny Guthrie has been in good form this year, and he talked today about tomorrow’s game at London Road:
“I hope we can seal it on Saturday.”
“Everyone’s talking about it being nice to seal it at St James’s Park, but I think the players want to get it done as soon as possible, and enjoy the Monday night game against Sheffield United.”
We want to capture promotion as soon as possible, because then we can press onto win the Championship, and in fact secure as many points as we can this season – that has to be the goal in the remaining 7 game of what has been a magic season for Newcastle fans.
