What Promotion Means To Chris Hughton – EVERYTHING

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton admits today that leading Newcastle United back to the Premier League will be one of the greatest achievement of his football career.

Chris Hughton – promotion will be highlight of my career

It will be right up there with his excellent achievements as one of Tottenham Hotspur’s top players from 1977 until 1990 when he played over 300 times for the London club.

Just some background on Chris – he won two FA Cup winners medals and a UEFA Cup, when playing at Spurs, and he immediately joined their coaching staff when they won the 1999 Worthington Cup.

Chris was asked in the Evening Chronicle today just what it mean to him to get Newcastle United promoted, and this is what he said:

“Everything”“Certainly, you always look back on your achievements as a player, and it’s no different when you are a coach or a manager.”

“This would be right up there with any of the achievements I have had.” “I was very fortunate to have a decent career as a footballer, but it’s harder to win things on the coaching and management side.

“So anything I am able to achieve at this level means everything to me and would be right up there with any of the football achievements I have had.”

Hughton, as usual,  is only concentrating on his job tomorrow afternoon at Peterborough, which he sees as securing yet another win for the Magpies this season.

The 51 year-old Stratford, London born manager continued:

“If we are able to secure promotion, we will take it in whichever form it comes, whether it’s at home or away, a good win, a bad win, a scrappy win.”

“We have fought long and hard this season and everyone knows the ups and downs we have had at this club.”

“We have worked very hard to be where we are this season and to sustain a place at the top of this division.”

“It’s a position we don’t want to give away, and certainly don’t want to give away lightly, and the quicker we are able to do it, the better.”

These are great and truthful words from the Newcastle manger, and we just love this guy, for everything he’s done for our club this season.
