Kevin Nolan has revealed today he expected to be moved out of Newcastle United last summer, although it wouldn’t have been his choice to leave.
Kevin Nolan – wants to become Newcastle legend
This is what Kevin Nolan told the Newcastle Journal today:
“In the summer everyone thought they would want to get rid of all the players,””But I never said I wanted to leave or thought I needed to get out. It was more or less, ‘Let’s see how it goes, let’s see what we’ve got and what we do.”
” Was it going to be a case of them just picking us off and getting rid or you? But no. We had a lot of people at the end of the season probably thinking,” “I want to get out of here, this is my opportunity’. But I just wanted to enjoy Newcastle, enjoy the fact that 50-odd thousand watch you every week.”
“Hopefully I could make a name for myself so in ten years’ time I could come back and the people on the door can shake my hand, Newcastle give me free tickets, fans still want my autograph, things like that.”
“The word legend gets used too easily but I just want to be fondly remembered when I leave. The relationship between players and fans is back, and by the time I leave we can be exactly where we believe – as a squad and a management team – this club belongs.”
Yes we know Kevin doesn’t exactly say he wants to become a Newcastle legend, but that”s what he seems to want, he’s just too modest (or wise) to say that out loud.
We’d love to see Kevin do great at Newcastle, and that’s what we want to see for every Newcastle player, since it would mean Newcastle are doing great, and like any other Newcastle fan, that’s what we want for the club in the future.
Hey, maybe we will win something soon, but there we go again – getting carried away with it all. :D.
There has even been talk of a contract extension for the former Bolton midfielder during the summer, and that would be great.
Kevin has already proved his significant worth to the Tyneside club, and it would be great to keep him long-term at the Newcastle club.
