Newcastle United could be promoted even before they take on Sheffield United at St. James’ Park tonight.
Michael Chopra – can help get home town club Newcastle promoted
Nottingham, Forest can only equal Newcastle’s point total of 86 points, if they win their last 5 games and Newcastle lose their last 6 games.
And even if that happens Forest somehow have to get their current goal difference of 21 to be better than Newcastle current goal difference of 47 – it’s just not going to happen folks.
So as soon as Newcastle get one more point, or Forest lose one more point, then Newcastle are officially and automatically promoted.
Another way to look at it, is that the only way Newcastle will not be promoted today is if they suffer their first home defeat of the season and Forest beat Cardiff City – any other set of results has Newcastle promoted.
Nottingham Forest host an in-form Cardiff City team at the City ground this afternoon, 5:15 pm kick off time, and their game will finish about 30 minutes before Newcastle even start their game tonight, and congratulations to Newcastle will be in order if Forest don’t win.
If Chris Hughton comes out into the dugout tonight drinking a cup of coffee then we know Newcastle have been promoted. 😀
Cardiff are on a hot streak right now winning 5 of their last 6 games and on Saturday they had a fine 2-1 win at home to Welsh rivals Swansea, with Geordie lad Michael Chopra scoring both goals.
Michael now has 19 goals on the season, and let’s hope the 26 year-old Newcastle-born striker can get the job done tonight for Newcastle, before we even kick off against Forest.
Michael will certainly be wanting to help out his home-town club.
After all, he’s just like Alan Shearer and most of the rest of us – he’s an avid Newcastle United supporter born and bred on Tyneside.
