Mike Williamson So Happy At Newcastle

Mike Williamson, who the club signed from Portsmouth for £1M last January – what a bargain – has come out in praise of Newcastle’s Argentine center-back Fabricio Coloccini today.

Mike Williamson – heaps praise on Argentine Geordie  Coloccini

Mike Williamson told the Evening Chronicle today:

“You have to stand back and admire players like Coloccini sometimes.“I am here to learn off him and the other players.” “That is what I’ll do – I will take what I can from every experience I have.”

“Center-halves develop later, and you can play until you are 35 or 36.”  “You are always learning, and you just have to keep your eyes and ears open and work as hard as you possibly can.”

“There will be new faces coming in, no doubt, but the boys have bonded and we will be as strong as ever for next season – just like we have been this season.”

Just one of the things we admire about Mike, is his tremendous attitude and outlook, and the lad is so down to earth.

If you have a subscription to Newcastle United TV take the opportunity to watch him when he is interviewed – he comes over as just a smashing lad.  What’s his accent?   We know he was born in Stoke-on-Trent  but it seems more of a southern accent to us.

Of course Mike is still unproven at the top levels, but his play for Newcastle since he arrived in January has been first-rate.

And he’s thankful, not surprisingly, to Newcastle manager Chris Hughton, for rescuing the 6’4″ defender from his nightmare at Portsmouth:

Mike continued:

“Thanks have to go to the manager for giving me the opportunity, and I just hope to repay him by putting in performances week-in, week-out, and helping the boys.”

“It was a difficult start – don’t get me wrong – but you never know what is around the corner.”  “It is a dream to be part of this – it is amazing. Hopefully, it will continue next season.”

Mike has a terrific opportunity to repay Chris and the Newcastle club next season, by being as outstanding as he’s been for Newcastle in the Championship, since he arrived.

Good attitude and seems like a good player too. Ofc the prem is the test for many of these newer players and hopefully most will step upto the grade.

A player which will hopefully continue to grow as top CB in the PL.

Got to say, when his move to NUFC was first reported I had no idea who he was. You’ve got to give credit to CH and his scouting team for this find.
