There is some positive news in the People today from Alan Oliver, that says the two local lads Steven Taylor and Andy Carroll, will both stay at the club.
Carroll and Taylor – will kiss and make up
And not only that, but there could well be some public display of their togetherness and desire to stay at Newcastle, and help the club in the seasons ahead.
We had expected this, but it didn’t stop the gossip press from having a field day a coupe of weeks back, and suggest one or other of the players would be sold in the summer.
Some journalists even seemed to get annoyed because Newcastle circled the wagons, and they were unable to make it into a huge event, like they’ve done in the past.
The Sunday Sun are reporting that Everton are interested in Carroll, but there’s no chance the Magpies will depart with one of their own, who has already scored 17 goals this season and has come on a ton.
We also believe Chris Hughton is proving to be a master at handling his players’ characters, and it wouldn’t surprise us if Chris has met with both of them already, laid down the law, and told them to sort out their differences for the good of the Newcastle club.
Getting promoted and the Magpies side looking so good in the last few weeks, will have helped that coming together of the two lads – since both of them will have been celebrating promotion as Geordie lads, just like the rest of us.
A Newcastle source told the Sunday Sun:
“Chris Hughton is absolutely delighted. Taylor and Carroll are two Geordies who want to stay with their home town team.”
“They are both potential England players of the future and losing one of them would have been a severe blow before we’ve even kicked a ball in anger back in the Premier League.”
“But it now looks like they are going to try and put the incident behind them for the good of the club.”
The local Sunday paper is also reporting that Chris Hughton and the players partied into the early hours of Tuesday morning, after they secured promotion by beating Sheffield United 2-1 at St James’ Park, on Monday night.
And of course they were given Tuesday and Wednesday off to potentially recover from any hangovers – another wise move by Hughton. 😀
It seems that probable new permanent captain Kevin Nolan, will now keep a watchful eye on Andy, who has been in trouble far too often this season, and still has to face an assault and battery charge later this month in the Newcastle courts.
We cannot think of a better player or person to mentor Andy Carroll, and that’s yet another positive impact Kevin Nolan will have at the Newcastle club.
Kevin has been a god-send to the club this season.
