Good Teams Make Winning Games A Habit

Chris Hughton seems fairy philosophical about next season’s tough challenge that lies ahead in the Premiership.

Chris Hughton – we’ve learned some things this season

Hughton told the Evening Chronicle:

“With everything, what we have to be aware of is that next season we’ll be doing it in a better division, with good sides.”

“We are a team which came down from that division, and we’ve got to make sure we’ve learned enough from this season to take it into next season.”

“You like to think it becomes a bit of a habit.”   “We are aware that a win on Tuesday night makes it almost there, but what I’d like to see is this group of lads go right through to the end of the season.”

“Irrespective of what happens on Tuesday, I am quite sure I won’t see a group of lads looking to tail off towards the end of the season.”

The lads have shown this season they are willing to scrap it out, and have seemed to always go for all 3 points in their games this season.

We have to hope that attitude continues next season, because it would be daft to go into a game trying to get a draw, and therefore forfeiting 2 points,   essentially before you even start the game.

Fortune always favors the brave.

Yes, it will be tough next season, no doubt about that, but the Newcastle players have shown they know what it takes to win games this season.

And even when they have gone two goals down away from home, like recently at Bristol City, they had the fortitude to fight back, and in that game we finally drew 2-2, and with a little luck could have won it.

So we are hoping that this new tough attitude in games continues next season, because it was exactly that lack of fight and spirit which got us relegated last season.

It does seem some of the whimps have moved on during the summer, and Newcastle have become a much stronger outfit because of that.

Good teams always find ways in games of winning them, whatever it takes, and we hope Newcastle will show some of that next season.

If we do we may even do better than we think next season.

We’ve players who’ve really jelled and maintaining the determination we’ve seen this season, next season depends on who we bring in.

I’s most important that Hughton use the leading players to get insight into propsed signings and give the way he’s made bes us of the players’ commeitteh, I see no reason why he wouldn’t take advantage of their opinions.

Getting a pre-recruitment feel for a potential signing’s attitude and motivations can make an enormous difference in the recruitment process.

A fine example of not doing so is the mess that was expecting Wise and Keegan to work together. Impossible – never in a month of Sundays as their personalities are so so unalike.

A little thought can save a lot of grief!

    lesh – that’s a very good point.
The positive thing is we saw that in January – the 4 players they brought in really wanted to come to Tyneside and they’ve waxed lyrical about the club and the area ever since.

lesh agree with ya there mate.Chris brought in some good players on what i would really call a small budget and to me he really proved what a good manager he was with them signings.I would be very surprised if Chris did not have a talk with the senior players at the club on players that would fit into the tightly knit squad we have already.

JIMMYBOB33 think once best gets his first goal for the club, think we gonna see a total different player. To score 10 goals in that Coventry side is some feat, and remember hes still a young fella yet, don’t think the fans having a pop at him is going to help the young fella.
