Chris Hughton has today paid some compliments to Newcastle’s French right-winger Fabrice Pancrate.
Fabrice Pancrate – after scoring that great goal at St. James’ Park
The winger looks set to leave St. James’ Park this summer after failing to make an impact at Newcastle – even though he scored that tremendous goal last year at St. James’ Park, on December 5th against Watford, which will be long remembered.
But he’s been very inconsistent when he’s played, to say the least, and was even taken off at half time, the last time he started at Peterborough.
But Chris Hughton has today praised the player:
“He is out of contract in the summer so I have a decision to make there.”
“Fabrice is a player who has not had the opportunities he would have wanted, but he has added something to the squad. He has given us something in all the games he has been involved in”
“He would not have played as many games as he would have wanted, but has been part of a very good and very competitive squad.”
“I would not underestimate what he given the squad.”
We’d be very surprised if Hughton signs Pancrate in the summer, since we have to assume there are better wingers out there, who can press Gutierrez and Routledge for a starting position next season.
We do expect Chris to bring in another fast winger, but not Pancrate.
