Ryan Taylor, Ameobi And Smith All Start

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has made three changes to the side which won 4-1 at home to Blackpool on Saturday.

Ryan Taylor comes in for the injured Tamas Kadar, who has a hamstring problem, while Alan Smith and Shola Ameobi replace strikers Andy Carroll and Peter Lovenkrands, who have been rested.

We can only think that Shola has been looking good in training, but it appears that Chris will start in a 4-5-1 formation with Nolan playing just behind Shola up front.

This shows a certain respect for Reading, who are in excellent form of late.

It also looks like Ryan Taylor will be at right back and Danny Simpson switches over to left-back,where he’s played once or twice before.

Jose Enrique is on the bench, but it looks like Chris doesn’t want to risk him, and he may still be a little under the weather.

Jose missed the game on Saturday because of a bug, and only returned to training yesterday.

And the bench looks so strong – Tim Krul, Joey Barton, Leon Best, Jose Enrique, Andy Carroll, Peter Lovenkrands and Fabrice Pancrate.

Andy Griffin, the former Newcastle player is at right back for Reading, on loan from Stoke City since January – through the end of the season.

A win is what we’ll be looking for the make it six in a row.

Howay The Lads!!

Hopefully Barton will get a decent run out. If he’s finally sorted himself out behaviour-wise we could do with getting him back up to speed.

In fact, we could start him, seeing as you’ve only listen ten players there Ed…

AOTN- Barton is a class player on his day, always remember when he bossed that midfeild against villa last year and made barry look like a mug

In fairness to Ed, he seems to have taken this list directly from nufc.co.uk – who have given the same list of ten players.

I wld have loved to start with Barton instead of Guthrie but CH is the boss.

Why 3 strikers on the bench.

I honestly think that Barton could be immense for us next season, IF he has overcome his demons. However I personally think that he can count himself incredibly lucky to have been given so many chances, so as far as I’m concerned, he’s on his last warning.

Do you think a midfield of Barton and Nolan would work? And if so, who would push forward and who would do the defensive duties..?

Presumably the missing man is young Danny Guthrie?

Smith up front maybe? Would be awesome to give him a go, but most likely be a 3rd centre back as usual and play nolan off shola.

Apart from the fullback areas, expect this formation and personel (expect new signings) to be played away from home next season and against the big 6.

Reading is probably the toughest game for a long time, will be a good indication of where we are tonight!

AngerOfTheNorth, they are box-box midfielders the sort themselves out but wht I know Nolan is the most attacking midfielder at NUFC.

Barton will be more defending but I also think that is going to be our CM for EPL.

good team my only concern is shola as a loan striker, he isn’t good enough to play alone and just doesn’t put in enough work rate

mmm … CH continues to sacrifice creativity away from home. I think we’ve succeeded DESPITE these tactics. When we have 4,000 highly vocal away fans to support us we should try taking the mantle of the home side a little more often

What’s your sources gg7? Thought he had been taking control of his problems…moved to a small coastal city and stuff to get away from town.

Still, if none of our young players cant play instead of Pancrate, they will never play.
