West Brom Easily Beat Middlesbrough 2-0

Middlesbrough failed to do Newcastle just a small favor today, and were easily  beaten by WBA 2-0, at the Hawthorns this afternoon.

Roberto Di Matteo – easy 2-0 win for WBA

WBA went ahead just before half time, always a good time to score a goal, when in injury time,  Simon Cox scored a good goal.

Cox got the ball  on the edge of the penalty area and dummied a couple of Middlesbrough defenders, before blasting the ball home past goalkeeper Brad Jones, and high into the net.

A good goal by Cox but the Middlesbrough defense could have done better to block Cox’s advance.

WBA got a second goal on 55 minutes, but it was woeful defending again from the Middlesbrough defense.

The Teesiders failed to clear the ball from their own penalty area and when it was played back in from the right wing, the ball was headed down and it was Roman Bednar first to the ball to slot it home from 4 yards out – but where were the Middlesbrough defenders?

In other Championship games, Newcastle’s opponents last Tuesday night, Reading,  hammered Peterborough 6-0 at the Madejski Stadium.

Leicester City beat Watford 4-1, even though Durham-born Steve Howard was sent off just before half time, Swansea beat Barnsley 3-1, and Blackpool had a great 3-1 win at home to Nottingham Forest.

Cardiff had a good 1-0 win at QPR  to stay in 4th position, now just 2 points behind Nottingham Forest.

Scunthorpe had a great 3-0 win at home to Bristol City, thanks to a hat-trick from Gary Hooper, and are now 5 points clear of the drop zone with just 2 games to play.

Newcastle are top of the league on 95 points, 6 points ahead of WBA with a game in hand, and a point on Monday night at Plymouth will give Newcastle the Championship title.

Howay The Lads!!

Steve – it’s only 45 mins away from me so a bit of a no- brainer. Got that extra ticket going of course. Worth a 2-day sickie for travel time?

But how jammy for me that it comes down to this match??

Sorry to correct you Steve_48, but a proper name, the name of a specific person or thing, begins with a capital letter.
However I do Agree with your sentiments about the bottom feeding scum from Middlesbrough.
    Maximum disrespect at all times.

Did we expect anything else from Boro, who at their very best are slightly above average….league positions dont lie.

‘We are top of the league, i say we are top of the league’……..sorry, couldnt help it.

If we can’t get James Perch I think we should go for Kyle Naughton.

Another season of obscurity for the smoggies then. No fake derbies next year, just the one and only!

    I don’t rate Hunt – I really don’t like that rumour.

Anyone from Middlesbrough we should raid then? I am sure they will have to sell if they don’t get promoted this season – David Wheater? Gary O’Neill?

Not sure who else they have, to be honest, lol.

Wheater is a bit of an enigma, he looked great for 5 mins, then he has been average. Don’t know if he would improve our squad, but if he could recapture his form then he wouldnt look too bad in black and white at all.

It isn’t an improvement as such, more a padding out.

He could be our rotation centre back while we send Kadar out on loan to get regular matches. Wheather is experienced these days and used to the Premiership so he would be more ideal as back up than Kadar, while Kadar could go out and get regular footie at maybe Norwich or Huddersfield next season?

Is anyone else watching the Charlton-Norwich highlights on the Football League Show?

    Forster had an excellent game.

About the promotion, I think it would be great to secure it for ourselves, so roll on Plymouth.

Bucks mag, have you watched any football this season? Promotion has been secured for quite some time now.
