Newcastle Interested In Swansea Midfielder

Swansea’s 24-year-old midfielder Darren Pratley may be attracting Newcastle’s attention.

Darren Pratley – interesting Newcastle?

Newcastle will be bringing in another central midfielder during the summer, and we hope Chris Hughton makes his movies early,  so we have the full squad in place by early July when training and team bonding begins again.

Darren Anthony Pratley was born in Barking, London and turns 25 this coming Thursday.

The 6’1″ midfielder has been at Swansea City since 2006, when he was signed from Fulham for £100K, and has played 140 times for the Welsh side with 16 goals.

Darren started his career at Fulham in 2003, and played on loan at Brentford for a couple of seasons from 2005 through 2006, and appeared 54 times for Brentford scoring 5 goals, during his two loan spells.

We think Pratley will be the kind of player Newcastle will bring in this summer, a good player who can be bought by Newcastle for a few million, and potentially improve and be a success at the higher levels of football.

This strategy however, is very dependent on extremely good scouting by Newcastle, and the ability to see a good young player,  who could make it at a higher level.

We have to hope our scouts are on the ball this summer.

He’s not good enough really. If we were going to get another central midfielder then he’ll have to be a pretty good player considering the competition for the 2 central positions at the moment.

hum a attacking midfielder for the leagues lowest scoring team ….. nah if we are going with a cm player from this league i’d say Joe Ledley

wingers, quick/poacher striker and back up full back are the priority!

I agree with tdt – this guy doesn’t set the pulse racing. The standout midfielder in this division (apart from or own squad of super-heroes) is Charlie Adam. I know he played too deep in the SJP fixture but he was great when they beat us away and he has his Rangers experience of big crowds and high expectations. Right age and hopefully the right price. Maybe we are letting the market know we have a number of targets so we don’t get asked silly money – and I don’t believe any of this £15m stuff – that’s exactly what I would want any selling clubs to think.

I like this player, but is he good enough for the Premiership? As you said Ed, these are type of players we should go after. Could be real quality..

I’d like to see Scott Brown come in.

Ledley always comes highly rated, but I’ve never really seen/heard of him standing out.
