Argentine International Fabricio Coloccini has lost his battle to be fit following his hamstring injury last Tuesday night at the Madejski Stadium, and will not play tonight at Home Park.
So Fitz Hall comes in for his 7th start of the season, and gets another chance to impress Chris Hughton, and potentially get a contract offer from Newcastle this summer.
Hall has himself just recovered from a hamstring problem, but will partner Mike Williamson at the heart of the Newcastle defense tonight.
Joey Barton also gets a start as he replaces Jonas Gutierrez on the left-side of midfield and Andy Carroll comes in, as expected, for Shola Ameobi as the lone front striker. Shola is on the bench, as is Peter Lovenkrands for the second game in succession.
Gutierrez is not on the bench, so the Argentine may have picked up an injury in training. But 20 year-old Tamas Kadar is on the bench, so we have to assume he has now recovered from his hamstring problems.
We hope we can extend our 6 game winning streak to 7 tonight, and at the same time win the Championship, but we are not expecting an easy game from Plymouth, who have to win tonight to avoid relegation.
