Gutierrez, Hall And Coloccini All Doubtful For Saturday

It seems we have a number of players doubtful for Saturday’s last home game of the season against Ipswich Town.

Chris Hughton – injury update from the Newcastle gaffer

If Newcastle avoid defeat the club will have their first unbeaten home record at Newcastle since 1907.

Chris Hughtonwill be hoping to welcome back the two Argentine internationals Jonas Gutierrez and Fabricio Coloccini, but both still appear to be doubtful for Saturday.

Hughton talked about the injury situation at the club after last night’s game:

“Jonas has a slight thigh strain.” “Colo just felt his hamstring.”

“I hope they’ll be fit for Saturday – they’re two players who have played a really big part in this.”

“Fitz Hall felt his hamstring slightly.” “We don’t know how bad – we’ll assess it this week and I would imagine he’s very doubtful for Ipswich.”

If  Coloccini and Hall are nor fit then Hungarian U-21 International Tamas Kadar will start alongside Mike Williamson in central defense on Saturday.

And if Jonas is not fit we expect the in-form Joey Barton to continue in midfield.

What a through ball that was for Wayne Routledge’s goal last night – just fantastic

Comments very welcome.

no problem really, Kadar and Barton to come in. Stick Vuckic out left for the last 30mins. 🙂

if you cant fly, get the bus/train! the channel tunnel is a viable option. Not as cheap as flying but if its to get to the big game, its totally worth it!

But I still think it’s a bad idea to play Barton on the left. Yes he played fantastic last night but couldn’t he have played even better in his preferred position?
Just look what happened to Guthrie when Chris H stopped using him on the right

For once I will be at Shearer Bar on Sat the closer to the ground the better the atmosphere. It will be nice for the young talent that we got to get a taste of the good times, so Kadar Krul and Vuckic should get a little bit of time on the pitch, as most likely we will be clear by 2-3 goals by the 70th monute.

Please let us see some talents out there, Hughton. No need to play players like Pancrate, Butt, Ameobi etc. now…

No tunnel from Ireland unfortunatley. I might try Shearers’ alright. Sam Jacks looks good too on match days judging by youtube.

Team I’d like to see at the weekend:

    ————————HARPER——————–
    SIMPSON—-WILLIAMSON—-KADAR—-ENRIQUE
    ROUTLEDGE—BARTON—GUTHRIE–
    ————————NOLAN———————–
    ————SMITH———-CARROLL———-

Let’s give Smith a chance up front so he can top off the season with a goal!

A couple of RUMOURS touting around today. Started by “someone” who works within SJP

    1) Hughton has already been told he won’t be in charge in August and will be taking a Championship job. (Hence why he was only offered a 12 month contract)

    2) A 5 man list has been drawn up by Lambais to take charge of Newcastle for the PL season and Martin O-Neil tops the list

    3) Talks have already started with Carrick’s agent

    4) Nicky Butt has signed a pre-contract with Preston North End

    5) Steven Taylor is being sold to the highest bidder

Apart from number 4 I hope none of the rest are true. But who knows…..

Jamesthefirst did hughton not sign an 18 month contract close to the end of 2009? I thought he was going to be the manager next year because of that! Hope he will be

I wouldn’t mind some of those rumours being true tbh as i think Chris Hughton deserves the job however if things don’t work out during the season then don’t sack him, keep him as assistant and i think Martin Oneil is a great manager. I think Carricks a great player (but would just make the CM list longer and stop the development of Newton, Innman and Vuckic) I think Nicky Butt should stay as a coach, but by all means keep Steven Taylor, i beleive him nd Carroll have resolved their differences and he’s a proven (at least decent) Prem player and by far better than Williamson. Now i’m a big fan of Williamson but some of his clearences and defending against Plymouth yesterday were awful and would be tortured in the Prem

He is a good player, but this season he hasn’t impressed at all. We have two three central midfielders who are more or less as good as him. And we have three classy ones in the u18 squad (Newton, Inman, Vuckic) who don’t need any more competition.

No doubt they are just stories and not likely to be true, but with Carrick, I remember talking to him in Feb 2007 when I got lost going to a long stay car park near Manchester airport, pulled in Tesco petrol station, he heard the accent and directed me. When I said what you playing for them for and not your real team, he said tell me about it, would have giving anything to, but they never took in interest. Mind you, doubt we could ever afford him. And put yourself in his postion, play for a regular prem champuon club and in the champions league every year or play for Newcastle. Love of the club aside, what would you do?

Hey people, don’t get me wrong, I hope all those rumours are utter nonsense. All I did was report on what the latest ones were.

I like everyone else want stability at this club and don’t want any of our star players going and CH well deserves a crack at the PL.

hi all not a newcastle fan as such lived in england in the ninetys and remember the great side ye had then so i am delighted to see ye back in pl also i am irish and old enough to remember watching chris hughton play so i am delighted for him too.a bit surprised to read a few of negetive comments about his managment of newcastle and wheather he can cut it as a pl manager remember he spent 20 add years at tottenham played under terry venebles david pleat and jack charlton with ireland also was a coach with george graham glenn hoddle and martin jol to name afew so if you cant learn from them then you should just give up.i might be biased being irish but i think you have the makings of a top manager.remember the old saying “a empty vessell makes the most noise” and ye had a few of those souness alerdyce gullett .watch the quite ones my mother used to say they’re the most dangerous

Gotta love the internet, it has single-handedly eradicated the notion of ‘genuine information’ & replaced it with ‘lies, subterfuge & self fulfilling prophecy’. A godsend for conspiracists, crackpots, extremists and football bloggers to undermine anything.

How about a mandatory rest for 6 weeks in the Summer?

PS: I agree, Krull in goal. Ranger doesn’t deserve a run out, keep Best in at least he looked lively last night.

PPS: Keep Fitz Hall on the books, he’s a diamond.
