Injury Concerns For Newcastle This Saturday

Newcastle have a very important game against Ipswich Town this coming Saturday.

Chris Hughton – injury concerns for Saturday

Newcastle have just two games remaining in this rather magic season, Ipswich on Saturday and then QPR a week on Sunday in London.

If Newcastle can win both games they will amass a fabulous 104 points on the season, and will be at least 9 points ahead of second placed WBA.

Chris Hughton does have some injury worries for Saturday’s game, and he talked about these this morning:

“We’re still hopeful that Jonas and Colo can play some part.”

“They are due back in training by the end of the week and we will assess their fitness further then.”

“Fitz, though, won’t be available.”

It may be that young Tamas Kadar gets a start in central defense on Saturday, but whoever plays in the game, all the players will be there at the end of the game – which we must win – to celebrate this season, when the club will be presented with the CC Championship trophy for 2009-2010.

The game is a sell-out and will set the record attendance for the  Championship at over 50,000.

The players and the coaches at Newcastle have been simply magnificent this season – there’s just no other way to describe it all.

Comments welcome.

I’d start with Kadar, the kid’s clearly good enough, and Ipswich have a few injury problems of their own up front.

Hall has done alright for us this year, but I can’t see him being signed on a permanent deal as he’s come across as a bit injury prone in his time at SJP.

Small point but the game is not a sell out and won’t be until Ipswich sell their allocation, which it appears they may not do.
Who cares though as long as it’s a good game and we win by a few goals.Bring on the party.HWTL

I’m sure we all have opinions about who should come in and who should leave, but I have tried to highlight what we NEED, rather than what we want

    Transfer Necessities:

    GOALKEEPER : HARPER, KRUL, FORSTER
(All excellent and no need to look for another)

    LEFT BACK: ENRIQUE
(we desperatly NEED cover for Enrique. He will never be dropped but if he gets injured for a few months we are screwed)

CENTRE BACK: COLOCCINI, STEVEN TAYLOR (won’t leave), WILLIAMSON, KADAR
(Send HALL back to QPR because he is not needed. We still NEED a PL quality Centre Back in case Taylor does leave and Colo gets injured. Heard CH wants YOBO from Everton)

    RIGHT BACK: SIMPSON
(we NEED a proper proven PL right back. Simpson is good but is still learning and will struggle against top four opposition and Tozer is not ready yet)

    LEFT WING: JONAS
(we NEED cover for this position. Someone who can also play on the right, maybe ARDA TURAN or TAARABT from QPR)

    DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD: SMITH, GUTHRIE
(lose BUTT, and we do not need another DM at this club)

    ATTACKING MIDFIELD: BARTON, NOLAN
(we don’t need someone in this position but ideally we all WANT someone more creative. Maybe instead of buying someone we start giving VUCKIC a chance)

    RIGHT WING: ROUTLEDGE
(we NEED a proven RIGHT WINGER in the PL. Maybe bring PENNANT back from Spain or splash the cash and buy someone really good. Strikers thrive on crosses)

    STRIKERS: CARROLL, AMEOBI, RANGER
(we NEED a proven quality striker more than any other position. Personally I’d like us to get CARLOS VELA on loan from Arsenal)

Players I would get rid of because they are not needed in the PL
    BUTT
    RYAN TAYLOR
    FRITZ HALL
    PANCRATE
    LEON BEST

    Jamesthefirst –

i think kadar can cover for enrique

loven could cover for jonas (also vuckic)

as amc/amr – id splash all 15 mio on gourcuff

rm: gourcuff can play there (also vuckic)

st: 1st choice would be albin on free…2nd..vela on loan

alternatives: tosic (amr/aml) on loan from man utd

rb: have no idea to be honest, but i think it’s easier to find a quality CB then RB..so..id play s.taylor there.

as for DMC – no idea..perhaps gago on loan. he doesnt get chances at real..we have good realtionship with them & i think jonas & colo could persuade him to join us.

Agreed in general with most of what you say J but would not be so fast in getting rid of Best from what I saw in his ten mins against Plymouth, I think you can see there is something there I think once he gets one in the net he will settle and start to produce.

He has not cost a lot so I feel we can dwell on him a little longer, I think he will come good in the end, if he doesn’t he should still be saleable back into the fizzy.

I sort of want us to have a lot of injuries for the last 2 games – as long as they’re not serious – so we have to play a youngster or two (even if only as a sub)!

Yeah forgot about Lovenkrands, deffo keep him but not Best. He has a reputation for unsettling dressing rooms with a moody attitude. Coventry fans said they were glad to get rid of him.

richietoon – they dont even need to doo that, toon fans could just pretend to be Ipswich fans and go on there website and by them… sure you’d have to sit with the away fans but better than not seeing it at all!

i think man u are already tracking down gourcuff so it would be extremely hard for us to get him. its true though he is worth every single penny of chrises 15m
