Coloccini, Gutierrez And Lovenkrands All Start For Magpies

Good news this afternoon that both Argentine Internationals Jonas Gutierrez and Fabricio Coloccini have both been passed fit and they both start today’s final home game of the season against Ipswich Town.

And Peter Lovenkrands as expected is also recalled to the starting eleven as Newcastle revert to their 4-4-2 attacking formation at home.

The back four is Danny Simpson, Coloccini, Mike Williamson and Jose Enrique in front of Newcastle veteran goalkeeper Steve Harper.

Gutierrez will line up on the left wing, Wayne Routledge on the right flank, and captain Kevin Nolan and Danny Guthrie form an attacking central midfield.

Lovenkrands is up front with joint top scorer Andy Carroll in attack, and this is Newcastle’s strongest side for the last home game of the season, and it’s obvious Chris Hughton would like a big win.

Nicky Butt is on the bench this afternoon, and this will be Nicky’s last appearance for the club, as the 35 year-old player has indicated this morning he will be leaving Newcastle this summer.

Nicky has spent six years on Tyneside, and is a class act.

Maybe, but it’s a lot easier to give youngsters a run out at home than it is away…

He wont be seen against QPR.

CH wont use him in the first team this season now.

If he isn’t sold in the summer, expect to see him a lot more next season though.

Dont forget, he’s been out for 6 months.

Yeh i understand Hughton wants 100 points to make a statement, yes he wants to entertain…but

why not play Best? See what he can do at home
    Why not play Kadar?
why not have have Ranger in there?

Vuckic i can see why hes not in there, hes been out for 6 months.
And most of all, Butt like him or not hes been here for 6 years and always works hard even if he age and ability hindered him. I think he deserved full 90 minutes at St James for the last time.

Kadar and Vuckic are not in because Chris Hughton is being professional not sentimental. We’ll have to get used to that word -professional- because its been a foreign language to us for these past 5 or 6 years.

Spitfire ….you are spot on with that statement!
Professionalism has been a banished word from the Geordie nation for too long.
Let`s get on with the job, lift the trophy, get in some signings and push hard next season.

Spitfire, how right you are! This is the best line up for the occasion, and far better than an open topped bus ride. Once we secure the unbeaten home record and 100 points the QPR match is fairly meaningless, so gives a chance for the youngsters.

Plus, I don’t think Argentina would thank Highton for risking Jonas or Colo against QPR. So expect Kadar, Krull, Best and even Vuckic to get a run out in a real game. Again, a professional decision…

    No youngsters…how “suprising”.

It really disappoints me that Kadar isn’t given the chance today. If there’s one thing that irritates me with Hughton is his lack of confidence and willingness to play the talents.

And Krul should definitely be given the chance too. Im am so disappointed.

If i was one of the 1st team players to win us the league and i was dropped in THIS game for a youngster who has done nothing to help us achieve the title i’d be furious!

As far as i’m concerned its a game for the players to say thankyou to the fans and the fans the do likewise to the players.

Well done each and everyone of you

Personally I think the lack of youngsters has a lot to do with the presentation of medals (supposedly only 16)

Why play Vuckic ahead of say Butt when Butt is more deserving of a medal!

Why play Krul ahead of Harper, at the end of the day, it’s Harper’s unbeaten home record!

Why on earth are there no Academy youngsters on the bench? I really hope Hughton takes a risk at QPR and favours Vukic over Nolan. In Hughton we trust though!!! OH NO WE HAVE CONCEDED!!!!
