Chris Hughton has talked today about the the unity and togetherness that is the Newcastle squad right now, and that should auger well for a tough season in the Premiership coming up.
Chris Hughton – no problems between Steve and Andy
Of course last month we had the training ground bust-up between two of our local lads, Steven Taylor and Andy Carroll, and today both of them will be at St. James’ Park to collect the CC Championship trophy following the game against Ipswich Town.
Steven Taylor is back in training and may even get a run-out in our last game at QPR a week tomorrow.
Today, Hughton insisted that there are no problems between the two lads:
“They’re part of a group of lads who get on very well together,” “Steve’s been in as per normal, Andy has been training as per normal. We have a very together squad and there are no problems.”
But don’t expect that statement to be believed by the gossip press, who will continually try to play the altercation up over the summer, and will have both lads leaving the club.
What Chris has said today is simply an inconvenient truth to the gossip press – just you wait and see. The Guardian has already announced how unhappy they were that Chris had the players circle the wagons to keep the altercation largely under wraps.
We hope that Chris banged the two lads’ heads together and told them to sort their problems out for the good of the Newcastle club.
And it wouldn’t surprise us if Chris did exactly that – and got the result he wanted.
