No Shortage Of Leaders In The Newcastle Dressing Room

Chris Hughton has talked today about not being short of leaders and captains in the dressing room this season.

Chris Hughton – no shortage of captains in our dressing room

This is what Chris Hughton told the Newcastle Journal today:

“We’ve had plenty of captains out there this season,” “It’s been a key and I could probably add another couple of names to the ones that people have mentioned like Smith, Butt and Harper.”

“Colo (Frabricio Coloccini) is a quieter individual but he’s had an excellent season.”  “There are some real good characters in the dressing  room who’ve been strong on and off the pitch and that’s been a big thing for us. Fabricio is a good example of how well we’ve done.”

“Some will say we’ve dropped down a division but I do see a development in his game as each season goes past.”  “Irrespective of the division it’s still the English game and a tough division and I see a player who has developed.”

We have to hope that our players have improved this season, because that improvement will be needed next season, if we are to avoid another relegation fight in the top division in England.

Four or five new players in the summer will also help to strengthen the Newcastle squad for next season’s significant challenges.

need to get rid of the deadwood in the team though. I think we should sell ameobi he cant hack it in the PL, and Ryan taylor has been a dissapointment, looks like he plays well only against us. Pancrate needs to go as well. weve got big strikers but we need a quick small striker with PL experience maybe someone like Matt derbyshire should be cheap. n i dont yet have 100% faith in danny simpson need some cover there as well. CM is crucial as Barton is injury prone need someone there.

I dont mind rtayl as a right wing. I think he has some quality but as a right back he is nothing special at all. When he has been put on as a winger he has often set up goals or scored them

PapaToon, Once again I don’t think we should sell any of the first team players.

Butt will be retiring, Fitz Hall is returning to QPR, Pancrate will be released and I’m not sure about LuaLua (due to his injury).

We have a small squad and need bodies, Raylor is type of player we need to keep, he isn’t a world beater by any means, but his versatility means he can come in very useful.

If we have a small squad give the youngsters ago, i dont think we dont play them enough, southhampton, middlesborough, Arsenal all play youngsters in games n thats why they discover first team player. Its not enough to give 5 min here and a cup round game every 2 months. Got to play the youngsters over n over again. I think haris vukic, nile ranger tamas kadar and even lualua need to be given more game time. Look at colocini we all thought he was shite first season. but now after hes had run of games he looks like a top class defender same with Jose Enrique. I thought we should have kept david edgar as he was versatile across the back four n better than RT.

I think with Butt and Hall guaranteed to go there’s two position’s that need strengthened straight away, I wouldn’t renew Pancrate contract which I think was only to the end of the season anyway, Ryan Taylor can go but I don’t think anyone will get near the reported £30’000 plus a week he’s on so we might be stuck with him, if we replaced Butt with Ledley for a free from Cardiff, Pancrate with Adams from Blackpool, Hall with Wilson from Portsmouth that would be a decent start along with a right back, cover for the left side altogether, a pacey goal getter upfront I think we’ll do okay, I wouldn’t mind Fleck from Rangers, Belhadj, not sure about talk of Hutton and Keane don’t fit the supposed new criteria for signings plus I think they’d be miles out of our price range.
