Chris Hughton talked to Newcastle United TV this morning, and said how proud he was to lift the Coca Cola Championship trophy on Saturday afternoon.
Chris Hughton – proud moment for the Newcastle manager
This is what Chris said today:
“It doesn’t get any better than that,””It was an immensely proud moment to walk out in front of a full house and collect the trophy.”
“Moments like that don’t come around too often so they have to be enjoyed and you have to cherish them.”
“It was a shame we didn’t get the win to finish off the home campaign but I think that disappointment only lasted for a short while.”
“The lap of honour was a nice way to say thank you to the fans for what has been a tremendous support this season.”
“We’ll enjoy this period while it lasts but very quickly the hard work and planning will start for next season.”
Chris is so right when he says the celebrations will not last too long, because after next Sunday’s final game of the Championship season at QPR, planning for next season must start in August.
We’ll be linked with so many players in the summer it will be ridiculous.
However, we are hoping the Newcastle club will move quickly in the transfer market and get our targets just as a soon as possible.
After watching Stoke get hammered 7-0 by Chelsea yesterday, it was a reminder of how good the top teams are in the Premiership.
But we were also disappointed in Stoke, because four or five of their players seemed not to care too much.
That will not be the case for Newcastle players next season – that’s a certainty.

Comment #2What’s been noticeable this campaign has been Hughton’s humility in what’s resulted in an absolutely tremendous achievement all round.
An achievemnt aided by Calderwood, the backroom staff, all of the squad players and dare I say it, himself, Mike Ashley for retaining the core of the squad and backing needs for reinforcements..

Comment #5Hey G, the episode of Friends your joke came from came out before 2003. I don’t think they want it back.
Did anyone else love Pulis’ “we were lucky to get nil” quote? I never liked the bloke before that.
