Ipswich Manager Roy Keane Backs Newcastle In The Premiership

It seems like Roy Keane is finally having a positive impact at Ipswich, and has moved the East Anglia club up the table this year.

Roy Keane – backs Newcastle to survive in Premiership

Ipswich are now in 14th position and 10 points clear of the relegation zone,  and their supporters will be hoping Roy can mount a promotion drive next season after Roy has had a tough first season at Ipswich.

It seems that Roy has been quite impressed with the Newcastle team as he talked about them today:

“The Premier League is a long long way above the Championship but Newcastle have a chance because what they have, which they did not have before, is a good team spirit.”

“That gives you a good foundation.”

“You need money, every manager will tell you that, but Newcastle have a good starting point. They had a great bench against us.”

“Nicky might leave, but the Smiths, the Bartons, all these lads can play. They have vast experience.”

That’s all we need to do next season – establish ourselves as a middle of the table side, and that’s the next step in the club’s steady progression.

There will be no daft predictions like top 6 or anything like that, but Roy is right that the big thing we have now at Newcastle  is team spirit, which we didn’t have much of last season.

And of course we do have a good core of players who have played nearly all their football in the Premiership.

So we have to hope that we’ll have a decent time of it next season, and then if we can avoid a relegation fight, we’ll need to push on from there.

And it could well be the club is in for some long needed stability,  if Chris Hughton can establish himself as a Premier League class manager.

Chris has recently been embraced by the Newcastle fans, because he is such a straight shooter and so low key and modest.

Chris , Colin and the rest of the coaches are putting into place some good things at the Newcastle club, that will auger well for the future.

But first things first – and it’s stability next season in the best football league in the world, where almost every game is beamed around the world live on TV.

We cannot wait!

Howay The Lads!!

As Fulham and Birmingham have shown, team spirit goes a long way in the Premier League. Individual quality can often come second to a togetherness and a good dressing room that refuses to get beat. This is something CH and Nolan have given our team.

We might not play teams off the park next season but we’ll certainly kick them off it 🙂

the first signing for me would be our right back position and a proven goal scorer i would love to see santa cruz from city and perch from forest imo ? and definatley someone with a little flair and pace in the middle like an emre type player though barton may do a job there.
let the transfer rumour mill begin, may i thank the toon for the feel good factor again

nuttyward- santcruz would be my ideal signing too, probably on loan as that would be the only way we can afford him.

Oh sure. Keano’s moved them up the table from where he had ’em, but they finished 9th last year on 66 points without him. Maybe you meant to say, he’s moved them down the table?

Roy Keane should keep his opinions to himself.
He should not even think about Newcastle, let alone speak about us.
