Some Good Players In Championship Team Of The Season

Kevin Nolan was crowned as the Championship player of the season a couple of months ago and Kevin plus another three Newcastle players have been included in the Championship team of the season.

Kevin Nolan – player of the Championship this season

The other Newcastle players who made the side are defenders Fabricio Coloccini and Jose Enrique, and striker Andy Carroll.

There will always be arguments about who deserved to be in the side who were not included, but Steve Harper, Peter Lovenkrands and Jonas Gutierrez are three other Newcastle players who must haver been close to making the side.

The only other clubs to supply more than one player in the side are Nottingham Forest and Cardiff.

Here’s the Coca Cola Championship Team of the Year:

Lee Camp (Nottingham Forest),
Chris Gunter (Nottingham Forest), Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle), Ashley Williams (Swansea City), Jose Enrique (Newcastle)
Graham Dorrans (West Brom), Kevin Nolan (Newcastle), Charlie Adam (Blackpool), Peter Whittingham (Cardiff City)
Andy Carroll (Newcastle), Michael Chopra (Cardiff City)

It’s interesting that Gateshead-born Andy Carroll would partner Newcastle-born Michael Chopra up front  – two local lads to bang in the goals – and they both have hit 19 goals this season.

And come to think of it there are some players in that team that Newcastle could go after this summer.

Not that the clubs would want to sell of course, but Chris Gunter (20, right full back), Ashley Williams (25 – central defender), Grahamn Dorrans (22 – midfielder), Peter Whittingham ( 25, midfielder/winger) and Charlie Adam ( 24, central midfielder)  would all improve the Newcastle squad significantly.

And notice they are all younger than 26 – but there’s little chance their clubs would even think of letting these players leave this summer – unless of course they are just crazy – so there’s always hope. 😀

They would be tremendous acquisitions for Newcastle.

Comments welcome.

Can’t really argue with that team, maybe without Chopra….maybe would have gone for Maynard or someone else.

Lee Camp is a fantastic goalkeeper in my opinion. Nothing theatrical just probably the most reliable pair of hands in the league.

Seen some people moaning about jonas and loven absent,, but they could hardly just produce an all toon side so fair dos.

Whittingham, Adams, Dorrans would all be players I’d like to see come in this summer.

My one quibble is no ambrose in that 11. He was the class act for palace this season and was up at the top of the goal scorer list from midfield. another player I’d be more than happy to see come in to give us goal threat and options in midfield.

Completely agree with some of the quality in the CCC.

    Would take :
    Williams
    Perch
    Adams
    Maynard

Peter Whittingham is on a free at the end of the season, I think.

I don’t see why people are arguing that Gutierrez and Loverman aren’t in there. Whittingham and Adam have been incredible this season – just look at their stats to see how good. And Lovenkrands only really hit form in December, and although he really did hit form, half a season of brilliance shouldn’t be classed as better than a full season of greatness, IMO.
I think that’s the same reason why Ambrose isn’t in there; because he has tailed of since January.

    Is anyone concerned for saturday?

Chris Hughton has made it clear he wants 100 points and will probably now feild his strongest team and as this is the last game of the season all the youngsters will miss out unless Chris takes a gamble and starts a mixture of young and experienced players EG

Jonas is in Argentina, Ranger is injured and Vuckic has no chance of being involved on Sat because CH will stick to the same old:

    ——————HARPER——————-
    SIMPSON—–TAYLOR—-WILLIAMSON—ENRIQUE
    ROUTLEDGE—GUTHRIE—SMITH—-BUTT–NOLAN
    ———————CARROLL——————-

Butt will definitely start and probably play the full game as a send off by CH

Since about 3 months ago Cooper…..!!!

Now, should Mr Andrew Carroll be given our Number Nine shirt next season then?

Someone’s gotta have it – personally, I think he’s earned it and giving it to him may be the key to him being a real power house in the Prem next season.

I think he deserves a shot Ed. There’s not much bigger confidence boost than the club showing they have faith in him. Way I see it we don’t have anything to lose by giving him it, and like you say it has to go to someone. Much better to go to a local hero than a new lad coming in. No one wants to see it go to Leon Best then?! 😀

I’d like to see us give some of the youngsters a run-out on the weekend. I’d love to see some of our up-and-coming stars step up =]

Start for Barton too if his fitness is there- he’s impressed me with recent appearances. Problem is who to drop of course!

EDD CASE- 100% yes matehe does.

does this sound mad but…. i want us to build slowly at making a good young side, not just have millions upon millions spent on players no more, i hope we do spend no more than 25 millions ext season and bring in about 6 qaulity youngerns

maybe but it could have a negative affect on the lad, doesn’t he need to be kept away from the limelight, for a bit anyway to calm him down?

If any of the young lads from the team dont make it up to the Premier league next year thats where we we should look. I’m picking Leiscter to go up so Charlie Adam from Blackpool could be the competition we are looking for for Jonas
