Haris Vuckic Hoping For First Team Finish To Season

Slovenian U-21 budding star Haris Vuckic is playing tonight for the Reserves against Rotherham and hopes to do enough to make the squad for Sunday’s last league game of the season at QPR.

Haris Vuckic – hoping for first team outing

Vuckic told the Evening Chronicle today:

“Like any young player my aim is to play in the first team.”“I would love to be involved in a first-team game again. I got a taste of it earlier in the season and it would be great to do it again.”

Newcastle Reserves indeed have two games this week, the game tonight at Whitley Park – 7:00 pm KO against Rotherham, and then their last game of the season with an afternoon kick-off on Thursday against Grimsby Town, again at Whitley Park (2pm KO).

We have to hope that some of our younger stars are ready to make their breakthrough into the first team next season.

Indeed if Tamas Kadar and Haris Vuckic are first teamers next year at this time, there’s a good case to be made that Newcastle will have done very well, because there are some good players these lads will be keeping out of the side.

That’s out hope for next season, and we’d like to think Haris could be our own Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard of the future.

Wouldn’t that be something!

Comments welcome.

i know the lad might look promising, but hyping him up before he’s done anything won’t do him any good.

i remember a few years back, when everyone was raving about chopra and how he was going to be “the geordie michael owen”. yeah.

Absolutely spot on Chris F, and before Chopra there was Paul Brayson, and that Icelandic kid Bjarni somitorother! Let the promising kids develop properly boys, otherwise they end up losing the confidence and the ability when the fans turn against them.

But this kid is different. We haven’t had a youngster like this since Gazza.

Vuckic will be a big name in world football in 5 years. But I don’t want him in the shop window on Sat. Keep him back for next season CH.

He will no doubt get on the bench considering Jonas has already left and that leaves us 1 midfielder light.

Kadar as the next right side Maicon with Enrique as the next left side Maicon. Take that PL!

I agree to an extent Chris, but it’s hard not to get caught up in the excitement of the youth team!

We saw it a few years ago with Taylor/Edgar/Huntington/Krul/Forster/Carrol

Now we have Ranger/Vuckic/Inman/Airey/Soderberg/Alnwick who’re all looking like real quality!

U18’s are 2:0 up by the way. Ferguson and Edmundson (one of the 2 lads from the Faroe Islands who came on trial with us earlier in the season if I’m not mistaken?)
