Ashington-born Peter Ramage joined Newcastle back in 1996 when he was a 12 year-old.
Peter Ramage – while at Newcastle
And like all of us who were born in or around the Newcastle area, Peter is of course first and foremost, a Newcastle United fan.
And he’s delighted like anybody else about his team being promoted back to the Premiership.
Kevin Keegan brought Chris Hughton to the club in February, 2008 to help him with the coaching at Newcastle, after Nigel Pearson surprisingly left the club, and ended up a few weeks later as manager of Southampton.
Peter Ramage worked with Chris while he was still at the club in 2008, and he says how impressed he was with Chris, even back then.
Peter talked about Chris Hughton today:
“He’s brilliant.” “He’s even followed how I’ve got on at QPR.”
“When I came back from injury at Newcastle, he’s one of the ones who helped me get my form back.”
“He had one on one sessions with me, and he’s a top man.”
And Ramage has admitted how thrilled he was this seaosn at the way Hughton has tranformed the club and got the club back in the Premiership at the very first attempt.
“I’m over the moon for him. It’s testament to him that the players stayed.”“What’s happened this season couldn’t have happened to a nicer man.”
Peter played over 50 times for Newcastle and has so far played over 60 times for QPR, and is obviosuly looking forward to the game against his home-town club.
As long as we win on Sunday, we’re really not bothered about much else, but would like a win to end this dramatic and so successful season in Newcastle’s great history.
