Former Newcastle center-back Peter Ramage has come out today and said how the QPR players were annoyed and even angry when Newcastle signed Wayne Routledge in January.
Wayne Routledge = best player at QPR
That’s because Peter says Wayne was their best player at the London club.
26 year-old Peter Ramage told the Evening Chronicle today about Wayne:
“I expected him to do well up there.” “He’s different to what they already had, and that’s no disrespect to anyone.”“He has pace in abundance, and he has had half a dozen or so assists already.”
“We were bitterly disappointed to lose him, and angry, as well. He was our star player.” “He’s a good lad, as well and it’ll be good to see him at Loftus Road.” “I hope he gets a good reception for what he did here.”
“It’ll be strange to see him on the other side.”
Peter will find it very strange on Sunday afternoon, because he knows so many of the Newcastle players from his time on Tyneside.
Peter didn’t quite make the cut at his home town club, but he played 100% in all the games he played in the Newcastle side, and always wore his heart on his sleeve.
But that’s only what you would expect from a player born in famous Ashington – where so many great players were born – including Bobby Charlton and the incomparable Jackie Milburn.
Oh – the memories.

Comment #2I think with regards to is our squad good enough for next season. Would these player be good enough to play in the finals stage of the champs league.
Harper- yes
Simpson- no
Williamson- maybe
Coloccini-maybe
Enrique-yes
Jonas-yes
Guthrie-maybe
Nolan-maybe
Routledge-maybe
Carroll-maybe
Lovenkrands-maybe
So that is currently I think our strongest squad. Thats alot of maybe’s. Without another 4/5 yes’s I think we will struggle even with team spirt. Team sprit is not enough against the big boys and even against most of the ‘mini league’ teams.

Comment #4DJG – what an odd comparison. Why would we have a squad that could compete at that level? We needed one good enough to come second in the CCC, and they exceeded that by some margin.
The test for next season is: “which of this squad are good enough to get more points than 3 of the other teams in the prem next season?”
We know about 2 of them – they’re getting promoted some way behind us. So we just need to beat one more and we’ve hit our next target.
And yep, I think all of the players you mentioned – and several others in the squad – are more than enough to beat several of our opponents next season.
I really don’t get this thing about jumping straight from the CCC to the Champs League. Who does that these days? Why would you try? Boom and bust time if you do.

Comment #6Anyway – nice to hear from Ramage. Such a great lad and a real guts-and-glory defender. I hope he does well at QPR; perhaps we could get him back in a couple of years when he hits his best form.

“However, Sir Alex Ferguson has already shown a keen interest on him, and now both Frank Arnesen and Kenny Dalglish – hired to find the best young talent for both Chelsea and Liverpool – are on the case as well.
Newcastle have not yet pinned down Vuckic on a long-term contract and an offer of around £1.5million may steal him away.”
Hahaha, in their dreams.

Comment #8Anyone here believes that Jay Simpson would be a decent striker option? He is a real goalpoacher with pace and strength, a lot of the Arsenal fans see him as a good talent with loads of potential.

Comment #9Here! Here! Whumpie. Let’s not worry about runnin’ before we can walk.
By the way, I have had no one to celebrate with so far, as I am an exiled Geordie in London now. I thought I would take my camera to Kings X on Sunday morning to take photos of all our fans streaming off the trains for the last game of the season. If you see an oldish woman at the gate with a camera give me a big smile, please.

Comment #11Well put Whumpie that just about puts it all into context WE DO NOT HAVE TO BEAT THE WHOLE OF THE PREM.
We have already performed better that the two teams following us up so only have to add one more scalp to that and we are safe.
One step at a time and quit the moaning you whingers

I didn’t mean we are, nor I expect us, to be in the champs league anytime soon. I just think that we dont have many prem quality players anymore. We used to have players like Given, Milner, Bellamy they are all TOP LEVEL players even now. We dont have that with many players in my list, that was what I was pointing out and without 3/4 signings of that quality I think we will struggle.

Comment #13DJG – We dont have players like Given, Milner and Bellamy anymore because we are not a top class team. Staying in premiership is going to be hard enough next season! Then we’ll march on!
