April Awards Would be Fitting End To Season For Newcastle

It would be a great way to finish the season if Kevin Nolan is awarded the Player of the Month award and Chris Hughton gets the manager of the Month award for April.

Kevin Nolan – up for another award tomorrow

They are both among the nominations for the Coca-Cola Championship monthly awards for April.

Hughton’s record in April is fabulous, with five straight wins from the beginning of the month, and then the draw against Ipswich Town when Ipswich equalized right at the death. 16 points from a possible 18 is just great – let’s face it.

Kevin Nolan has not only played well in April,  but has another 5 goals to show for his efforts this month, and Kevin now has 18 goals for  the season – not too shabby for a midfielder.

Contenders for the manager’s award include Dave Jones of Cardiff City, Blackpool’s Ian Holloway and Nigel Pearson of Leicester City, and it may be the judges bypass Chris this time around, after Chris has dominated the awards this season.

Kevin Nolan is already the Championship Player of the Season, and faces competition from Scunthorpe United striker Gary Hooper, Cardiff City midfielder Peter Whittingham and Leicester City’s Andy King.

Winners will be announced tomorrow, so we are hoping Newcastle nab both  awards, to make it a fitting end to a fantastic season for the Newcastle club.
