Several PL Clubs Join Newcastle In Pursuit Of Jeremain Lens

With all the reports we are seeing of Newcastle being interested in various players this summer, we could probably put Chris Hughton short-list of targets together for him – for his meeting with Mike Ashley next week.

Jeremain Lens – several PL clubs after him

There is yet another report today that Newcastle are interested in Z Alkmaar winger Jermain Lens.

And it seems that Wigan Athletic are monitoring the AZ Alkmaar forward, and would you believe Sunderland and Fulham are also keen on the forward, thought to be worth around £5M.

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has made a check on the 22-year-old while we know Newcastle have watched him several times in the last month or two.

The Amsterdam-born striker has played 40 times for AZ Alkmaar with 8 goals, and was on loan last season to NEC where he played 31 times with 9 goals.

Jeramin  has also been capped 3 times for Surinam at full international level and has scored 2 goals for the side.

But of all the clubs interested in the player, we think Newcastle would be the best club for the 22 year-old – but there again we may be just slightly biased in that opinion. 😀

Comments welcome.

hmmm not a very great goal scoring record! I think his agent is probably trying to drum up some false interest in his player so he can engineer a move away from AZ !

Young enough to develop at Newcastle and we do need some extra wingers – ones who can play on both flanks too. Up to CH to get him if he is good enough. A rule of thumb about him is to consider the Premier clubs also interested in him. Main point – how pacy is he?

few videos of him on youtube. looks like he’s got really good pace. from what i’ve read though he seems to be more of a winger maybe? would be good competition for our two wingers now

Never heard of the lad so thought i’d check him out on Yooo Toob…… i know, i know they only show the best bits, but…….

    His best bits include:
    Very pacey
    Very two footed.
    Very skillfull
    Very athletic

Fits the ‘mould’ that the new Newcastle are going for. £5m is a lot of money for our club these days but would like to see more of the lad and if thats in the black ‘n’ white stripes then so be it.

    Trust in Hughton !

He is a good player, him and albin are the kind of young raw pacy players that we need.

I agree with most of the posts – he should be a winger. An average goal-scoring record in the Eredivisie says it all for me.

Looks like he could play up front or anywhere in midfield. Lots of skill and plenty of pace. Definitely worth a punt.

AZ is in debts and need to clear players. Quite surprised the club not interested in Len’s team mate – Mounir El Hamdaoui. He was Eredivise’s top scorer in 08/09 with 23 goals.

CH should also know him cause from his time at Spurs.

Another player to look out for in the Eredivise is Bryan Ruiz of Twente. Currently with 23 goals this season, this 24 year old Costa Rican is an all round attacking player who can play in any position in front.

I would like to see players of this calibre linked to the club!

Bryan Ruiz is awesome. Saw him play a few times when he was at AA Gent.
