Krul, Ryan Taylor, Smith, Barton, Ameobi And Best All Start

The referee Darren Deadman, has inspected the sodden pitch at QPR twice already today, but the goods news is that he has declared the pitch fit for the game to go ahead this afternoon.

And Chris Hughton has made lots of changes to his side for the last Championship league game of the season.

Tim Krul, Ryan Taylor, Alan Smith, Joey Barton, Shola Ameobi and Leon Best are all in the starting line-up.

Ryan Taylor comes in for Jose Enrique at left-back, while Alan Smith and the in-form Joey Barton replace Kevin Nolan and Jonas Gutierrez in the Newcastle midfield.

Best and Ameobi replace Peter Lovenkrands and 19-goal top marksman Andy Carroll up front with Newcastle presumably playing an attacking 4-4-2 formation.

It would be good if Leon Best can get his first goal for the Tyneside club – and get that weight off his back.

17 year-old Haris Vuckic is included in a subs line-up which is very strong indeed – Steve Harper, Kevin Nolan, Peter Lovenkrands, Fabrice Pancrate, Andy Carroll, Ryan Donaldson and Haris Vuckic.

Former Newcastle player and local lad, Peter Ramage, is at center-back for the London side and Elvis is on the bench.

TEAMS

QPR: Radek Cerny, Akos Buzsaky, Kaspars Gorkss, Jay Simpson, Mikele Leigertwood, Peter Ramage, Dusko Tosic, Alejandro Faurlin, Hogan Ephraim, Lee Cook, Tamas Priskin
Subs: Josh Parker, Antonio German, Elvijs Putnins, Joe Oastler, Angelo Balanta, Lee Brown, Romone Rose

Newcastle United: Tim Krul, Ryan Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini, Mike Williamson, Danny Simpson, Wayne Routledge, Alan Smith (c), Danny Guthrie, Joey Barton, Shola Ameobi, Leon Best
Subs: : Steve Harper, Kevin Nolan, Peter Lovenkrands, Fabrice Pancrate, Andy Carroll, Ryan Donaldson, Haris Vuckic

Donaldson and Vuckic on the bench. Good. Had hoped we didn’t play Ameobi, but I guess he could get one last match..

Dissapointed not to see more youngsters especially Kadar. Gutted Butt isn’t in the squad buit i guess he’s played his last game for the club

On the other hand Delighted Krul is starting and Vuckic and Donaldson on the bench

Btw. How bout that for a offensive minded bench…

Anybody know if Kadar is out injured? Should definitely at least be on the bench in place of Pancrate.

Kadar got a slight knock in the reserves last week so isn’t risked.

yep Newutd add a few more decent names to that bench and you would have a pretty decent starting 11 😉

I can see a goal from best today, Carroll should have started. Thought butt would have played, but from him not playing today I think that clearly indicates his playing career is well over, would love vuckic to get on

Where’s Enrique? Injured? Rested? I don’t see the point in wasting space on the bench by having Pancake there. He’s nowhere remotely good enough for the Premiership and will most certainly leave this summer. Should have had Tozer or another junior defender there.

If any defender gets injured we’re in trouble for the rest of the game.

If the following get injured, possible solutions (I’ve mixed them round so it’s not just a straight swap.

    Simpson: back four- Pancrate—-Colo–Williamson—-RTaylor–

    Coloccini: RTaylor—Simpson—-Williamson–Barton

    Williamson: Guthrie–Colo–Simpson–RTaylor

    RTaylor— Colo—-Smith—–Williamson–Simpson

My first ever post, but been reading this site for a couple of years now. Boring Sunday atfernoons has clearly driven me into commenting.

Turkish Magpie, I do agree its a bit risky having no real defensive subs, but does it matter that much? If we lose through an injury to defence we just blame that. If we win well, its going to be exciting football and give some youngsters some playing time in reduced pressure because we have killed the game (hopefully) . Perhaps hes not showing the respect to QPR as he has to other teams re a 4-5-1 formation away.

If we do get defenders injured, I know Pancrate has played rb before. So we could just have the following?

    Simpson: back four- Pancrate—-Colo–Williamson—-RTaylor–

    Coloccini: Pancrate—Simpson—-Williamson–RTaylor

    Williamson: Pancrate–Colo–Simpson–RTaylor

    RTaylor— Pancrate—-Colo—–Williamson–Simpson

Surely thats more simple? Or did I miss the point of your comment? haha

    Palace, definitely.
Will be a shame for Wed if they go down, been to Hillsbrough once, really nice ground but I sat there the whole match (Newcastle’s 3-1 friendly defeat a few years ago) and couldn’t help but think about those that lost their lives there…

Geordie-Gerrard7- Turkeys’ best player, twice the player of Jonas and Routledge put together, would be a FANTASTIC deal however we have no chance of getting a player that is about to play in the Champions League final

@NewUtd – “Had hoped we didn’t play Ameobi, but I guess he could get one last match..”

ah the lynchmob and their toxic scapegoating of players has survived another day. That goes against everything hughton has tried to get rid of at the club.. somehow I think you don’t care though eh.

Nuri Sahin is a fantastic player- replaced Emre in the Turkish starting line up at the age of just 19! No chance of getting him either.

Not really any other good young players other than Caner Erkin, 21 the same age as Sahin and plays similarly to Kevin Nolan

Well, you gotta let those cult hero feelings go if you want goals. Ofcourse, he is, but he is not good enough for the premiership, and he has proved that season after season. From the o6/07 season to the end of 08/09 he has 7 goals in 40 matches. It’s just not enough. He is starting to get old too.
