Peter Lovenkrands Has Been Terrific Signing For Newcastle

It was the type of goal you like to see win a football match, when the score ends at  just 1-0.

Peter Lovenkrands – 16th goal of the season

Peter Lovenkrands was put through on 71 minutes by Joey Barton, whose through ball split the QPR defense wide open, and Peter Lovenkrands ran onto the ball in the inside-left channel.

Peter still had a lot of work to do, but kept his cool as he looked around, and then brilliantly chipped the ball over the advancing goalkeeper with his left foot, for a classy goal yesterday, right in front of the traveling Toon Army who just erupted behind the goal.

It reminded me of the type of goals I used to score eons ago. 😀

And today Newcastle manager Chris Hughton talked about the winning goal:

“It was a very good finish from Peter, and it sums up how he’s been for us this season.”

“It came at a time when the game was opening up a bit.”

“I think it was ideal for him. Once it opened up we thought we could exploit a bit of the space and Peter has been very good at that this season.”

That was Peter’s 16th goal of the season and 14th goal scored this year, so he finished 3rd in the goals charts behind Andy Carroll with 19, and Kelvin Nolan with 18.

What a great signing Peter has been with 19 goals for Newcastle in his 16 months on Tyneside – and he cost the club nothing in transfer fees.

We also want to see Peter part of the Denmark squad for the World Cup this summer,  because he’s a player in goal-scoring form  and can surely do a job for his country this summer.

And let’s hope all three Newcastle players can keep scoring goals next season in the Premiership, where it’s a wee bit harder to score.

Peter should start for us. The bench is no place for him. It goes without saying he should be playing for Denmark.

Shola should be sold. We could get a few millions for him.

I can see Boro trying yo buy Ameobi.

He’s proved that he can score in the fizzy pop league, they’re still in it for next season and he wont have to move house or any of that so I can see it happening if they want him.

    £2 million quid and he’ll be gone…

Replacing Owen at a small fraction of the fee. Less injury-prone and more committed. First-class, he will do just as well in the Premier League.

    Hey Ed,

Peter has told the Denmark Manager that he will not be available for the world cup. He feels he needs time to heal after the loss of his father if he is to be mentally prepared for the premiership next season.
