Tim Krul Is A Very Good Goalkeeper – Hughton

10:30 am, Monday, May 3rd, 2010 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 6 Comments

Tim Krul had a solid game yesterday and kept another clean sheet for Newcastle, and also made some very good saves.

Tim Krul – good game yesterday

And Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has praised the young 22 year-old Dutchman for the patience he has shown this season as understudy to the in-form Steve Harper:

“Tim has taken over from where Harps has been all season. He pulled out some big saves today. We have won this division because we are the all-round best team.”

“Tim is a very confident goalkeeper. We are fortunate that we have two very good young keepers. Tim lacks first team experience, but he showed today that he is a quality player.”

“I expect he’ll be knocking on my door over the summer asking for more first-team games next season. He is an ambitious lad and we rate him highly.”

Newcastle are well off for goalkeepers and that is hardly a position that Chris will worry too much about over the summer.

Tim will push Steve Harper very hard next season for that first team jersey on Tyneside, and we also have 22 year-old Fraser Forster returning in the summer.

Fraser has been in absolutely wonderful form while on loan at Norwich City, and may even spend another season at the East Anglia club, who will of course be playing in the Championship next season.

As we said earlier, goalkeeper is hardly a problem position at Newcastle.

Comments welcome.

Sadly, I can see us losing one of these two lads. Both national prospects and fancied by a lot of other teams. I just don’t know which one I’d try to hang on to hardest.

If Forster wants to stay at norwich I say let him. He is getting good experience however if Krul wants and demands games he should be offered the chance to go on loan as well and we can have fraser on the bench. I dont want to see either of them go but i hope we dont let which ever one does go cheap

krul needed to be played in at least 4 more games this season. he is more than capable and he would gain the vital experience chris thinks he lacks!

send him on loan, let fraser have a chance at warming our bench.

hope chris handles these boys right othwise we’ll lose one, and i reckon harps has two years left at best

Tim Krul is a very, very good goalkeeper. Hope he breaksthrough next season to get some more games.

They are both the same age an going for the same slot so it’s guaranteed we are going to loose one of them, the Steve Harpers of this world are few and far between.

I doubt one of these boys will be prepared to sit on the bench for years waiting to get the first team jersey.
