Newcastle After Norwegian Striker Marcus Pedersen

Sources in Norway are reporting that Newcastle United are keeping tabs on Norwegian youngster 19 year-old Marcus Pedersen.

Marcus Pedersen – Newcastle interested?

Newcastle are not the only club interested in the Stromsgodset forward who has already scored 5 goals in 9 game sin the Norwegian Tippeligaen this season

Clubs like Fulham, Bolton, Sunderland, Blackburn, Borussia Monchengladbach, Hamburg, Celtic and Auxerre  are all reported to be interested in the Hamar, Norway born youngster.

Marcus has played for all the Norwegian youth sides including one appearance so far for the Norway U21 side.

The 5’11” striker made his debut for Stromsgodset last year, and has so far appeared 33 times for the Drammen based side with an impressive 15 goals.

Newcastle of course have already signed short-term the likes of Faroe Isles 18 year-old youngster Jóan Edmundsson, who played in the Newcastle Reserves last week, and we wait to see if Jóan will get a contract on Tyneside this summer.

From the reports it seems like Marcus Pedersen is in great demand, but he would be an excellent player to bring onto Tyneside this summer.

I watch a lot of norwegian football and I can confirm that Pedersen is an exciting talent. His style of play can in a way be compared to Rooney. He’s constantly running at defenses and has a huge work rate. He also has a good eye for goal. But I don’t see him as a final product and that is what we are going to need when we go up. Does anyone know if we would have a chance to get Loic Remy!? I think he would suit us great! absolute class and would add a fantastic dimension to our offense with his physic and space! look to france for the new forward is my tip!

Columbus, good describing of Pedersen. The only thing he really misses is some real speed.

I also agree that Remy would be perfect…fear he may be a bit expensive though. But he IS quality.

Seems a good bet this lad. I reckon that all of the players CH will bring in will be 21 or less.

By watching his highlights he looks like a really good player. Very strong. Would be a good buy in my opinion.

    Henok

so you watched a couple of games and conclude our u18 team doesn’t have talent? Nice. We reached the semi-finals in the FA-youth cup and narrowly got beat. By a team that btw drawed with Chelsea in the first leg in the final.

And this Pedersen guy is not one we should sign to start, he is a good prospect, but that’s it.

Haha, forget it Henok. Read a bit fast. But anyway, this isn’t a lad that will make us better. Not at first at least.

Another young player who is unlikely to get a game. So much for the youth policy!!! When will we buy some real quality????

    Great player, plays like Rooney.

Team number 6, strømsgodet. All the goals scored by players under 19 years this season..

But Jo Inge Berget and Fredrik Nordkvelde are players that Newcastle also should take a better look at.

By the way, Jo Inge Berget is actually a Udine Player. Still only 18, and watched closely by other clubs. Both Berget and Pedersen will be in the international squad for the next Norway game..

Berget could have joined any norwegian club this summer, but he joined Strømsgodset. A club that almost got relegates last season.

Because they let young players paly, average age for Strømsgodset is 21.8 year. One player over 30, and 4 other over 22!

I bet Pedersen scores 2 goals today, when they host Odd at home. On saturday there was like 10-15 clubs/scouts watching. Pedersen was the man of the match, or maybe it was the 21 year old keeper. Larsen, who managed som great saves.

Great goalkeepen, and Pedersen scores the only goal. Could have had 3.
