Chris Hughton To Scout Some Players In Next Couple Of Weeks

Ther are still some games left in the English Premier League and also in the major football leagues in Europe, and it looks like Newcastle manager Chris Hughton will be taking in a few of those remaining games.

Chris Hughton – will watch a few games in Europe

Chris will likely have a busy summer as he looks to strengthen his Newcastle squad before the upcoming tough season back in the Premiership.

Chris told the Newcastle official site today:

“It’s certainly an opportunity to look at players now we’re finished that little bit earlier.””During the season you are able to get to games, but not as many as you’d like because of our midweek matches.”

“But there are a lot of games over Europe during these next few weeks and it’s a good chance for myself and the staff to make the most of it.”

“I’ve taken in a few games already but intend to see a lot more during these next few weeks.”

Nothing has happened on the transfer front yet, although there is news again today that Newcastle may be a long term admirer of  Motherwell’s 22 year-old center-back Mark Reynolds.

We would hope that Chris will do his transfer business early in the summer, but that’s not always possible of course.

We’ll stay tuned of course – and where are those new strips?

Comments welcome.

Well the club was to cheap to go for Hangeland when he was playing in Denmark. They offered 2 million for him and Copenhagen wanted double that. Fulham then paid the 4 mil and got one of the best center-backs in the prem.

Copenhagen now has another very good defender. He has just turned 20 and his name is Mathias “Zanka” Jorgensen. His price would be around 4-5 mil which would be a bargain. We better hurry up though because he is being followed by a lot of other clubs.

I was reading Yahoo news just before (I know, not the most trusted of sources) and they reckon ManUre are set to let Berbatov, Carrick and Ben Foster go in the summer

Although I doubt we need foster, the other 2 would be most useful (although maybe our wage structure now won’t fit them?) but with Carrick being a Geordie and Berbatov being an alleged Newcastle childhood fan, what do you think?

Add in the cleverley rumours and there’s 3 *i think* decent players, but at what premium?

CH has met with Ashley and his sidekick now. He must thus know what he can have to get new players. No good leaving it too late. We need a good quality squad up and running by at least June-July. I keep saying scout out Scandinavia – at least they will not moan about the weather in the north east. Come on CH – lets have some scintillation at St James.

Ericles I don’t think scintillation and Hughton really go in the same sentence !!

TT, although I previus stated that could live with no new midfielder comming in, because I want the youngsters to get a chance next season, Carrick would be a good buy.

Toon! Toon! – berbatov? NO thanks. one of the laziest players ever. as for carrick..he’s ok…but not as good as he was few seasons back & he’ll probably only get he worth 10 mio of our limited budget? i might consider him, but i wouldnt take berbatov..not even for free.
as for foster? another keeper? we already have 3 of them.

Let’s hope MA & DL have stressed that there are some budding stars at Benton, and that some of the resources going into the club will bring additional development for those lads. We have all seen the potential of Ranger, but we do not know if Benton can get this lad on track to bring him up to PL quality and demeanor.

Can’t see Carrick bringing the speed we need. Has been poor lately.

Sadly, Rotonda heights is probably quite right.
So does that mean that CH will not be looking for flair, skill, intelligence, ball control, daisy cutter passes, unselfish play, pace? Or will he be checking out Pompey’s pensioners and other out of contract players on the run from Hull etc? Hope not.

Rotonda Heights… I picture you making your comments with your arms folded and gurning over the garden wall to Les Dawson, don’t know why…

Please howay no more big club rejects. Berbatov cannot score with 4 chances a game for manure so why at the toon? Carrick,, nah nah always over rated, decent honest lad whatever,, no better than what we have.

Yes I’m still gutted we missed out on Moses. Exactly the kind of versatile, young energetic creative attacker we needed, all the more reason to go get Sigurrdsson if possible. Anyone else like to see a bid for Connor Whickham? Surely a future star striker. Others-

    Ki Sung-Yong – celtic
    Ruiz – Twente
    Toivonen – PSV

CARRICK – Is being offered to Spurs so they can get MODRIC (another player we missed out on).
We could afford Carrick’s fee but not his wages.

BERBATOV – Mike Ashley is a big fan of his and according to Man forums has already spoken to his Agent. I so hope this is untrue

First of all, carick is not going to play for us cause our stupid coatch doesn’t belive in quality but quantity …just like Bolton …carick’s wage is not that big it’s probably 50-70 we have one of those in our club he is called Barton
secondly berbatov why on earth did we miss on him in the first place because of our stupid owner chairman shepeard …(he is not that stupid look at real Mallorca now) …berbatov is way better than shola and best ….so sell them and bring him
finnaly the reason I don’t like chris is
I don’t see him changing our game
I don’t like all his signings
I don’t think he have the capability to manage this huge club
he doesn’t give any chance to young players
