Jimmy Bullard Too Old And Injury Prone For Newcastle

Hull City will have to sell some of their top earners in the summer as they try to get control of a £35M debt and life back in England’s second tier.

Jimmy Bullard – will Newcastle be interested?

Midfielder Jimmy Bullard is almost certain to be sold this summer, but the former Fulham, Wigan and Peterborough player has a hefty £45K/week wage.

And given his hopeless injury record over the last several seasons, the 31 year-old may not be good value for money right now.

Newcastle already have a midfield player who has sustained many injuries on Tyneside in 27 year-old  Joey Barton, who still has to reach 50 appearances for the club, even though he’s been on Tyneside three full seasons.

And Jimmy will be 32 in October so he’s hardly the young player who can improve big time on Tyneside, which is what Newcastle will be on the look-out for this summer.

And Jimmy also didn’t produce when push came to shove for Hull City this season in the relegation race, and he reminds us too much of our own Michael Owen last season, who was on £110K/week wages and when the going got tough – disappeared.

So we don’t think Jimmy would be a good buy this summer for Newcastle – he’s too old and too injury prone to be worth the money in transfer fees and wages.

Anyway, that’s what we think – let’s know your opinions on Jimmy.

And remember opinions are just that – opinions – and not necessarily facts.

Comments and opinions always welcome. 😀

I really do wish people will stop talking about how he’d be a good signing for us in comments on here, because he just wouldn’t.

His attitude at Fulham, which led to his move to Hull indicates that, despite his cheeky chappy onfield persona, he’s a bit of a greedy twat, and may not be too well liked by his fellow pros at times.

Add to the fact that he’s over 30 and so injury prone, we should be steering well clear.

Couldn’t agree more with all of my toon army comrads on here who have commented. Look the guy was terrible down the stretch for hull. Missing pk’s and trying to be a 1 man army against sunderland instead of passing the ball. He was just terrible end of story. Nevermind the fact he is a walking aid station. If we are gonna pik the bones of hull we need to be going after that young midfielder they brought on against scumderland late in the match, his name escapes me. Or maybe villereal will loan us altidore. He was a force in several matches this year and is only 20. Nevermind the fact that he beat down a mackem. All of us have wanted to do that a time or two, it just so happens this young yank excels at it…lol I have seen altidore alot here stateside playing for the national team and him and donavan with charlie davies up front are lethal before davies got hurt. Lets go get 1 of those players…
