Newcastle Give Trial To 14 Year-Old 6’4″ Swedish Goalkeeper

News today that Newcastle have given a trial to a 14-year-old Swedish goalkeeper.

Sulejmen Sarajlic – in Newcastle last week

Sulejmen Sarajlic apparently spent last week training at the Newcastle Academy, according to the Sunday Sun, and he could be moving to Tyneside in the summer.

Sarajlic is already at 6’4″ tall and playing in the Youth and Reserve teams at Swedish Third Division club Raslatt SK.

Sarajlic has also been linked with both Aston Villa and Chelsea, and it remains to be seen if either of these clubs take the lad into their Youth Academies.

Sarajlic’s family hail from Bosnia, and he was very impressive at the Swedish heats of the Nike Premier Cup Football tournament in March, and reports also say he did extremely well last week at Newcastle.

Newcastle currently have two Swedish youngsters at the club, 18 year-old striker Samuel Adjei and 19  year-old goalkeeper Ole Soderberg, and it could be that we have a third Swedish teenager joining the ranks at the Newcastle Youth Academy.

6’4″ at 14! Well he’s got the height for it… If he’s a promising lad and he’ll develop well here, great. It sounds like a pretty young age to be taken away from home though, so the club will have to look after the lad. He needs to develop as a person as well as as a player.

How short sighted are you, Toon1978? A 14 year old goalie would be ready for regular first team action in approx 8 years time…. At that time Harper could well be a grandad.

It’s a good thing that we build for the future.

I agree with you there Anger – it is very young, HOWEVER, could we not buy a long term young contract with him and let him stay in sweden for now, with a couple of months over here until he turns 16?

Sounds good like, I really like the fact we’re packing out the youth team, having 2/3/4 players of real quality all in the same position. Goes a long way to creating the Given/Harper or Krul/Forster partnerships!

You are right mate lol. It will be a long time before we see this kid in the first team. We need to keep Forster and Krul at the same time though. Harper maybe has another 1-2 seasons left and he wil more than likely be fazed out pretty soon by Krul or Forster. I like he fact that we are looking at alot of youngins at this tim but we cannot forget that we need first team players for next season. 5 signing would be sufficient.

SH!!!!T 6’4 14 year old!! Sign him right now! You wont find anybody else like that in a million years. He will end up probably 7’2 starting #1 goalkeeper at Newcastle would be brilliant!!

I know he’s a keeper, but at that height, at 14, I wouldn’t mind seeing if we could convince him to give defence a go? Just a thought.

He is a goalkeeper and that is all you have to worry about. 🙂 Brilliant youngsters will be our future and what we have to rely on since Fat Bitch Mike Ashley wont give Hughton any transfer money.
