Newcastle Interested In 32 Year-Old Goalkeeper – No Way!

This is the silly season, and of course there are some very silly stories in the papers right now  – especially today – which is a Sunday.

Jesper Christiansen – Copenhagen’s goalkeeper
Yes that’s Brede Hangeland when he played at Copenhagen

With Steve Harper in top form last season, and Newcastle having two 22 year-old top youngsters, Tim Krul and Fraser Forster, both vying to take over the number one jersey on Tyneside  just as soon as possible, why on earth would Newcastle be interested in a 32 year-old goalkeeper?

Well the fact is they are not,  but that doesn’t stop reports that Newcastle will be competing with Bolton Wanderers for the Denmark and Copenhagen goalkeeper, 32 year-old  Jesper Christiansen.

Christiansen has played for Denmark just 10 times, and has been at Copenhagen since 2005, but we can safely say there is no way Chris Hughton will be going after this player in the summer.

So the Bolton press will not have to worry – they will have zero competition from Newcastle  for Jesper – we can assure them of that — but watch the report being regurgitated.

Oh well – as we said – tis the silly season.

Comments welcome.

Just shows how little the journalists really know and how much sh1te they print in the papers. Obviously the idiot who reported this knows very little about NUFC and we have two top young keepers vying for shirt number 1. IDIOT lying scum bags lol.

Anyone hear we’re interested in 5-6 players and Chris Hughton will only have to spend 1mil.

    Hughtons targets are:

    C Ronaldo

And all each team wants is a swap with Leon Best!

Take your pick Chris! What a signing Best was!

If we list all the players we linked on rumor press. Until transfer windows close I think we have more than 100 on the list 55

    Its plausible that were interested.

Hughton is the type of manager to prefer 2 experienced keepers than rely on young and inexperienced.

Although he is over 30, he is a proven international keeper. You would rather have him, and experienced pair of hands in than risking a young unproven player if someone gets an injury. The best GK in Scandanavia aswell, and wouldn’t cost a great deal. here is his wiki page –

I think this makes sense. Loan out Forster to a really good club like Rangers for Euro experience, sell Krul (neither will be prepared to warm the bench all season) and get someone like this to do it instead. I said this last week, asking whether John Burridge was still playing.

Wow! Dam Wigan suck. I know Chelsea is the best team in Premier League but come on 7-0! I think we will kill them. They are the laziest team besides the attacking. Just Moses, N’Zogbia, Rodallega, are trying no one else. Rest are shit.

Would be stupid to buy a new goalie.

    Murvar -sell Krul?

You gotta be kidding. If we had to sell him we should at least play him alot so we could get some real money for him.

Fraser on loan to Norwich again.

    Newcastle keep Krul and Harper.

    StuW –

Give me a break. Krul is just as good as Christiansen, and obviously has much more potential. Can’t believe how little trust people have in younger players.

Keep Krul, I don’t think he is ‘quite’ ready for the regular gig, but there is no denying he is cracking keeper. We just have to be careful about destroying his confidence, remember what happened to the likes of Richard Wright, when he got played too much, destroyed his confidence, and he looks far too hesitant to run of his line these days. Krul (or FF for that matter) will provide excellent back up next season, but Harper has to start. Leave the Danish guy where he is.

Yeah, righ. Newcastle have atleast as good ‘keeper in Harper, Krul and Forster, top youth talents, waiting on the wings. Bolton’s Jussi Jääskeläinen has couple of seasons left in him, and I rate him as one of the top GK’s in the league. So what is this so called football journalism all about?

The first team squad that won the Championship this year will form the basis of the team for next season in the Premier League. There is no plan for new capital outlay on players.

Wow, i can’t believe the suggestions of selling Krul. A year or two he will be as good as Harper and probably better. The games he has played have been pretty much flawless. Remember his debut a few years back. He was what 16 or 17 then wow he has so much potential. It happened to Barcelona with Fabregas. Please Please don’t let it happen to us.

No plan for new capital outlay on players? Seriously? Have a team ever stayed in the Premiership without spending money? We have a worse squad than when we went down! We’ve struggled in so many games this season, how can an unimproved squad handle it in the premiership?

    Wow……….what a statement.

Reading between the lines (which i guess the statement was issued to stop people from doing such a thing!)
But the only reason i can see the club doing this is to prepare the fans / media for the uncomfortable future……if we had money, then we say owt?

Oh well, lets hope we can get some financial backing from somewhere.

It’s a case of lowering expectations. Ashley doesn’t want a summer of fans moaning about a lack of transfer activity, so get it over with in one short, sharp shock.

If Hughton is expected to wheel and deal that could see a couple of players leaving unexpectedly. I also thing they will be looking to bring in free x-fers possibly Beckford.

    we are doomed!!

How can we possibly survive in the Premier League next season with such a small squad!! even with a few loan/free transfers in, it wont be good enough. Im not asking for £40/£50m to be spent, just £15/£20m to get two or three decent players in, in positions we need ie left back, att midfield, a pacey striker.

This will only get supporters turning against Ashley again. All he is after is making money from this club.

i WAS looking forward to next season, but now im not!!! it will be a season of real struggle!

Have to be honest, after a great season and with the feel-good factor back in the region, this statement has knocked the wind right out of my sails anyway.
Never expected multi million pounds signings week after week, but expected 2 or 3 half decent players.
Never mind, well hope CH still has that magical touch next season.

Newutd Loven can hack it. Carrol possibly, but BEST hahahahahaha sell him asap.
    Turkish Magpie…
That statement sort of doomed us:
The first team squad that won the Championship this year will form the basis of the team for next season in the Premier League. There is no plan for new capital outlay on players.
And also the fact that they refused to comment on player sales and purchases obviously means something. If Chris wants a player we loose a player simple as.

so hughton was stringing us along the other day then? when he said he was in europe scouting new players (yeah anyone thats under 16 or free) so that narrows it down a bit.
at least we know any stories from the papers saying we are buying players more than £1.00 then we know they are lying
