Barton – I Love Fabricio Coloccini – He’s My Favorite Player

Well the truth finally comes out,  and Joey Barton has today admitted that he just loves Fabricio Coloccini. 😀

Coloccini – you would think he had just scored a goal or something

Joey Barton has been a breath of fresh air since he returned to the Newcastle side following injury, and not only did he play some of his best football at Newcastle but seemed so upbeat about ….. well everything.

And the 27 year-old has admitted today that his favorite player at Newcastle is Argentine International Fabricio Coloccini, and if he was a Newcastle fan (does that mean he isn’t?), he’d have the name of  Coloccini on the back of his shirt.

Joey Barton told Newcastle United TV today:

“There are a lot of candidates but I would have to go for Colo – I think he’s been outstanding,”

“He endured a hard start to life in England, but fair play to him, he stuck around and is reaping the reward for that now.”

“He’s great to watch at times and has unbelievable skill. He’s a top, top player and has been brilliant for us this season.”

“I love him! He’s my favorite player and if I was a fan it would definitely be his name on the back of my shirt!”

We were huge fans of Coloccini before he arrived on Tyneside, but after that relegation season, we had our doubts about the colorful player with the hair.

But last season Fabricio could hardly have performed better for the Tyneside club, and he also showed he is totally committed to the Newcastle cause, and even willing to play second tier football to bring the Newcastle club back from disaster.

The Argentine International now has the chance to show everybody next season that he is indeed Premiership class, and we expect him to do just that.

He’s not part of the official argentina world cup squad just yet lads..!!!!

He’s in the 30 man provisional squad which is then cut down to 23 players.

Malcolm Macdonald was still having a right go at colo on the radio the other evening; saying he hadnt been performing this season and is constantly dragged all over the pitch! Now i don’t know what he’s watching; because for me and alot of the fans, players, coaching staff etc Colo has been tremendous for us this season!

It’s no co-incidence that out of the four games which we drew two and lost 2 in our “bad spell” this season colo ;was missing in the back to back defeats!

Let’s hope that he, Jose, Jonas, Nolan, Carroll, Williamson and Routledge can perfom in the PL next season as that will be the basis of our first 11.

    Your absolutely right,

everyone did suck last season. He will be a class act this season, and i will be seeing him play in August as i am only 18 and saving all this year just to fly over there from Australia to go and watch a game in the premier league!!

    So excitied!

Anyway, coloccini and gutierrez make us proud in the world cup. I am backing them and hoping both england and argentina will do well!

So many of the players have come out in praise of Colo, Williamson said he’s the best player he’s ever played alongside, now this from Barton…Great stuff!

For the 9m we paid for him, he was looking like another big money flop, but this season has at least bought him time and confidence. I just hope he can keep the momentum going!

Hopefully he is adapting to the English game, and we can expect more of him next season.

I think our defence needs some work. Too often there were some sloppy clearences that werent punished due to the quality of opposition.

We dont need more players, just Hughton needs to make sure they keep up the consistancy, as sometimes it dropped last season but was hard to notice as the teams werent good enough to capitalise.

Enrique, how good he was last season and was my player of the season, is often guilty of poor clearences and being sloppy in our third of the pitch. Was fine in the championship but needs to cut it out for the prem.
