Newcastle Players Could Be Fittest In Premier League

Chris Hughton seems very confident that the current squad he has in place  can do very well in the Premiership, and they will also be in top shape physically when the season starts in August.

Chris Hughton – very confident about Newcastle’s chances

Chris Hughton had just five words to say for the Premier League sides Newcastle will meet next season:

“We’ll be ready for you.”

And Chris Hughton feels that his current squad will be very fit and all ready for next season – and that’s before the pre-season training even begins.

It seems that Chris has given the lads some exercises to do to keep themselves in good shape over their rather short summer break.

The Newcastle players were very fit last season, which is one reason they were able to mount so many come-backs after going behind in their games.  Of course their terrific spirit and attitude also helped.

Chris Hughton told the Evening Chronicle today:

“Generally these lads are in decent fitness before they come back – and they know they are coming back into a Premier League season.”

“I am quite sure they will all come back in very good shape.”  “After a long, tough season, they will have a good break.”

“We finished a week earlier than everybody else, so they will have a longer break this summer.”

Each player has been given his own personal fitness program, and Chris is confident the players will do all that is asked of them over their summer hols,  and come back in good shape, ready for Newcastle’s huge season next term.

Chris, who is meticulous with details it seems – which is just great to see – continued:

“What is important is that they stick to their programs – but I have found for many a year that they will come back in good shape.”

“Players do these days. Gone are the days when players would specifically use the pre-season period to get themselves fit.”

So it seems we can expect the lads to be in top shape when training resumes on July 11th, not to mention what they’ll be like before our first Premier League game starts in August.

As Kevin Keegan said a couple of years ago – “we may not have the greatest players in the Premiership, but there’s no reason at all why we cannot have the fittest – it all helps” – we agree with that philosophy completely – well at least with the fitness part.  😀

The players have seemed fitter and stronger this season for as long as I can remember.. We’ve had relatively few injuries as well.

Fantastic insite into the way the club works ed. It,’s amazing how you get all these fab stories about the club coming up just as I was losing hope and all that. Yeah I think you are right, our players wll be very fit and probably are doing press ups and all that as we speak. In fact I bet they will be all seriously all looking quite muscley and firm on their return. Gosh I can hardly wait!!!!

They’re not real, Tooony, they’re just some of the mock-ups done by fans that have been doing the rounds for weeks now.

They will need to be fit because they will be chasing the ball a lot in certain games just to keep the score down. But we will stay up. That seems to be the limit of MAs ambitions which is very disappointing.

Hope CH will learn how to make them be the fittest team in PRM from his experience with Keegan training method.
