Newcastle To Play Glasgow Rangers In Early August

Sources in Glasgow Scotland are once again claiming that Newcastle’s pre-season friendly at Glasgow Rangers will go ahead on Saturday August 7th.

And assuming that is a done deal, although Newcastle have not yet announced that fixture, Peter Lovenkrands, who played at Rangers for six years from 2000, told the Newcastle Journal this morning:

“This game will be ideal for preparation for both clubs.”

“Playing the Scottish champions will be a great test for us. Any game at Ibrox is tough and that’s why we’re all really excited about it.”

“Our fans are also happy about going up to Glasgow and I’m sure they’ll enjoy the occasion as well.”

Of course Peter married a local Glasgow beauty, and that’s where his in-laws are, so he may stay over and maybe have his family visit the in-laws too.

Of course the Dane also has quite a Scottish accent too. 😀

When you consider Newcastle have to sign some free agents this summer, just remember that’s what we did with Peter, and the lad has scored 19 goals for Newcastle over the last 16 months and has looked a top-class player.

He was definitely worth the money.

This could also be part of a deal to get ahead of the other PL teams & sign Kris Boyd from them this summer 🙂 which I think would be a great acquisition as he’s a fantastic goal scorer & has European experience to boot, so come CH, make the deal, he’s on a freebie & will only want around £25k a week in wages too… bonus 🙂

I was thinking the excact same thing. We got the friendly now its time for their best player, who expires. Kris Boyd is a proven goalscorer. This friendly against Rangers would be awesome.
